Blurb: The Darcys' toddler son is fascinated with trash. This is not shocking behavior.
Will Darcy was a CEO, multimillionaire, and considered to be one of the Entrepreneurs Under 35 to Watch. He was also on a first-name basis with every employee of the local company that collected the garbage and recycling from the curb of his house, one truck behind the other.
The reason was obvious: He had a 2-year-old obsessed with garbage collection.
Thus there were hours spent watching online videos of garbage trucks, recycling trucks, and sometimes those trucks catching on fire, much to his toddler's delight.
And his son somehow knew to the minute when his favorite people were going to show up, twice a week.
It was a mutual admiration society. His little boy adored them and they adored him in return.
Unless he was incredibly sick, he always stood on the front step, Mrs. Darcy alongside, waving at them to the point that the adults were concerned he would fall down. They would always wave back and yell, "Hello!" When they were able they ran the compactors for him. If there were people on duty because of newness, illness, or vacation, they were told that the Darcys' address was the highlight of the day.
Mr. and Mrs. Darcy paid for and attended the company Christmas party. For his Christmas present their little boy, accompanied by his parents, received a private tour of the recycling facility and got a short ride on a recycling truck. He also met his most favorite people in the world. He didn't fall asleep until 2 that morning.
Six months later, it was to the delight of the entire company when word spread that their favorite customer, now 3 years old, stood on the front step alongside his mother and his 2-week-old little brother while the garbage and recycling was collected.
