I've Heard It Said

    Blurb: In Austen's day, Darcy was the original bae. To the tune of the Christmas Carol, “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day.”

    I've Heard It Said

    I

    I've heard it said in Austen's day
    That Darcy was the original bae.
    And wild and sweet
    The words repeat,
    “I've ardently admired you!"

    But time has passed. The day has come
    That brooding glares are dull and dumb.
    We want our leads
    With studly deeds,
    Not passively admiring you.

    And so I thought, romance is dead;
    “It's sex, and then more sex,” I said,
    “For lust is strong
    And mocks the song
    Of ardently admiring you.”

    Then pealed the forums long and loud:
    “Don't be a prude. Don't act so proud.
    Give what we stan
    Write what a man
    Who’s violently in love will do.”

    // THE END //

    I love the original song. The message is very soothing even (especially) when you are tired of the good fight and things are getting worse.

    The End
