Chapter 1
I wonder what's going on in England, Lizzie wondered. It's been almost a year since Elizabeth Gardiner Darcy left England, and moved to America to start her life a new. Never once thinking of the life she left behind, she went to school at the University of Florida, and went back to finish studying British Literature. When she left, she left her husband, Fitzwilliam Darcy, his sister, and her high society life as being the wife of Fitzwilliam Darcy, CEO of Pemberley Publishing.
I wonder if he even misses me, probably not he's to busy worrying about Pemberley that near the end seemed to be more of his wife than I did. He still is an arrogant, selfish, jerk, what ever persuaded me to think other wise? She remembered with a clear mind their last argument. A little over a year into their marriage, they invited their families to their home for Christmas. What a mistake that was! She was tired of the way Aunt Catherine treated her and her family. Yes, her mother was a pain, but she was still her mother and should have not been treated that way.
I will not have him or any other members of his family treat my family or me in that way. Elizabeth thought in a very angry tone.
'Elizabeth, we have a new roommate, she just arrived come down and meet her.'
'Be right down Katie, hey did they tell you who the other person is?'
'Nope, still no clue Lizzie. I don't know why the didn't let us know.' Katherine 'Katie' Gardiner answered. Just then the door opened and Katie gasped and she was beginning to wish that they did tell her. 'Gina Darcy! What are you doing here?'
Miss Darcy walked in completely shocked as well. 'Katie Gardiner, you are one of my roommates.' Katie nodded her head.
'Gina you could at least help me with your stuff.' Will Darcy answered, as he walked in the room he gasped. 'Katie, what are you doing in America?' Katie was about to answer when footsteps were coming down the stairs.
'Well Katie, I guess we are going to find out. Hello my name is Eliz...'Lizzie started to say but stopped talking immediately when she saw two people from her past.
Chapter 2
'Hello Mr. Darcy, Miss Darcy, what brings you to Florida?' Lizzie said moments later in a cool and calm voice.
'Elizabeth, I could ask you the same question?' Will said as he moved closer to his wife.
'I moved here about ten months ago, to start a new life.' Lizzie said backing away from him. He's just as handsome as ever.
'Um, Gina how about I show you where your room is?' Katie said escorting her sister-in-law up the stairs.
'So, this is where you have been the past year. I knew you weren't in England anymore, I just couldn't figure out where you went to.' Will said standing in the same spot and looking at his estranged wife.
'Yes, I moved to Florida, to Gainesville, this is where some of my family lives and I went back to school to study British Literature. Well, excuse me I need to finish unpacking and getting everything ready for classes Monday.' With a turn of her head, she started back up the stairs towards her room.
'Elizabeth wait!' Will said running after her, 'we need to talk about what happen between us.'
'What happen? I'll tell you what happen, I should have listened to my father when he said that I was too young to be married. But I said that I was so in love with you and that our age difference didn't matter. Boy was I wrong. Not to mention that you and your sister are just like what I first heard about you: proud and arrogant, I was wrong you haven't changed one single bit.' Lizzie said raising her voice loud enough for Gina to hear her.
'WHAT?' both Will and Gina say in unison.
Chapter 3
'You heard me Mr. Darcy. Or how else do you explain the way you both acted to my family and me. The minute Aunt Cathy was there you both treated my family and I the same as you did when we first meet, like we were below you. I couldn't take it anymore, Gina, a most beloved sister to me, conspired with Miss Bingley. Every time she would make a comment about me Gina would snicker with her, thanks for the support and sisterly affection Gina.' Lizzie said yelling across the hall to her.
'Lizzie, look I love you, I always loved you, nothing will change that. When you left I was so worried, I felt like my world crumbled down around me.'
'Yea right, whatever. And one other thing my name is Elizabeth or Ms. Gardiner to you both not Lizzie and definitely not Mrs. Darcy.' Lizzie said with anger flashing in her 'fine eyes'.
Finally Will had enough, he grabbed Elizabeth and kissed her passionately, and Elizabeth at first wanted to hit and push him away but the suddenly she found herself kissing him just as passionately as he was kissing her. Boy have I missed this she thought to herself.
When the kissed ended they just both stood there for a moment looking at each other, when Lizzie finally said, 'I guess you have really missed me huh?'
'What do you think my loveliest Elizabeth?' Will replied sweetly and kissed her again.
Gina and Katie started to get worried when they heard no voices, so they both went to Lizzie's room to check on them. They stopped suddenly when the say them both in a locking embrace.
'Well I guess the arguments over for now,' Katie said happily and with that they both went back to unpacking Gina's things. While Will and Elizabeth started talking about what happen over the past painful year.
'Why didn't you tell me that is what you were feeling Elizabeth?'
'Because I tried and remember that is what started the argument the night that lead you to leave for London the next morning.' Lizzie sat on her bed staring at him.
'London? I didn't go to London the next morning.' Will looked at her with a confused look, trying to comprehend what she meant by it.
'Yes you did, that is what...'
'What who said? Elizabeth, who told you I went to London?' Will said sitting down next to her.
Chapter 4
'My brother Charles, I went down stairs the next morning looking for you. I was going to apologize for leaving the argument the way I did, I asked him have he seen you. He then told me that you left for London.'
'Why would Bingley tell you that I left for London, when in fact I went for a ride that day, I wasn't paying much attention to where I was going. When I went to jump a log and fell, the next thing I knew it was late in the afternoon.'
'What? Oh my goodness! Will are you all right?' He nodded his head. 'I don't know why Charles would say that unless...' Elizabeth trailed off with a frown on her face.
'Unless what, Elizabeth?'
'Unless someone told him, when in fact they knew you only went for a ride.' Elizabeth looked at him to see if he understood what she was saying. 'What if someone purposely told Charles that, knowing that if I thought you went to London to be with your sister. I would get angry enough and leave; someone purposely set me up. And in the meantime you were out riding, fell off your horse, and were hurt. Oh what a fool I have been, a complete fool.' Elizabeth said with a very self-blaming voice.
'Lizzie, you are not to blame. I should have went to you the next morning, and tried to work out our problems. I should have never gone off riding without talking to the women who I love more than anything in this world.' Will said with much remorse and feeling in his voice. He moved next to Elizabeth to gather her in his arms and just holding her as tight as possible. 'Lizzie, I love you and I am sorry for the whole thing, I never imagined you would leave without telling me. We were all worried about you, especially Gina and me.'
Lizzie looked at him this time with the confused look, 'what? I didn't leave without telling anyone. That's not true, I left a letter for you and Gina on your dresser in our bedroom.'
'I didn't see any letter.'
'What? I don't understand I left the letter on your dresser. Was anyone in our room, when you got back from the ride?
'What are you trying to say, that someone purposely did this to separate us?' Will looked at Lizzie.
'Yes that is what I am saying Will, I can give you two guess of two different people that didn't want us to get married, well excluding my father.' Lizzie said looking at her beloved husband.
'Hmm could it possible be your sister-in-law, Caroline and my dear Aunt Cathy.' Using the name that Lizzie calls her to anger her even more.
'Bingo! And the worse of it is Will that we fell for it. We didn't trust each other enough to believe in each other.'
'I know. I thought that our love was enough but I guess that I was wrong. Maybe we should have listened to your father and waited. At least until we got to know each other a little better. Maybe things would be different now.' Will said looking at her with sadness and remorse in his brown eyes.
'Things are different now Will. The big question is what are we going to do about it? I have missed you dearly; a part of me died when I decided to leave England and you. However, I am adjusted to my life here in Florida and I love it here. I don't think that I want to return to England anytime soon.' Elizabeth replied honestly looking at her husband.
'I know, actually I was thinking about moving here. With Gina deciding to move here, I have no reason to be in England. I have been developing and set up Pemberley Publishing here in the States so I moved here as well. So what do you say Mrs. Darcy? Shall we try again? Or just go our separate ways? The decision is completely up to you.' Will said looking at her.
