Beep.Beep.BEEP!
"AAAARRRRGGHHHHHHH!" was the first sound emitted by one Miss Elizabeth Bennet. A great start to a Monday morning. Nothing like an enormous hangover and a Powerpuff Girls alarm clock to wake up to. Actually not a 'Powerpuff Girls' clock as it was smashed yesterday, when it was flung against the wall in a desperate attempt to sleep.
Finally deciding that she was actually late, she dragged herself from the bed and tried to stand.
"Ouch!"-She fell over and mentally reminded herself never to go drinking G&T's with Charlotte on a Sunday night again.
On deciding what to wear she was very thankful, because being one of the younger editors of New York's hottest magazine 'TREND' she was required to keep up the 'modern' image, which in Elizabeth's language meant that she could dress in whatever the hell she liked.
So she chose her Diesel Jeans and her knit sweater with trainers to compliment her 'collage look'. She grabbed some coffee, yelled 'Bye Jane', and was out the door.
Parking the car she caught the lift to the top floor and just when she was looking forward to the day she smelt it, it came so suddenly, but there was no mistaking the familiar waves of nausea which now swept over her, the bulking, bulging form of Bill Pritt-Collins was hunchbacking his way toward her. Unfortunate as this was it was about to get much worse. She was about 2 corridors away from her office and 3 from the toilets. So she could either hide behind the 2ft high bin, or take the only other option, which was to run as fast as she could. She sprinted past him, and the stares she got were worth the look of pure surprise on Bill's face. So pleased with her smartness she didn't see the person not 5m behind Bill.
"OWW!" as she run headlong into them causing them both to fall over.
She looked over and saw the most beautiful man-ever. With dark curly hair, chiseled features and a body to die for.
Before she had a chance to speak though he did and in harsh tones.
"What do you think your doing?" he said.
"I'm sorry, I just didn't see you." she replied to Mr. Tall, Dark and Nasty, for so she had dubbed him.
"Yes, I'm sure. If you'll excuse me," looking at his watch he said "you've already wasted enough of my time."
And he left as she stared open mouthed, but not for long as Bill was slowly coming towards her.
When she got to her office, pinned to her door was a note.
DAMN IT! It was from that toad Bill.
"Miss. Bennet
I've just been to your office looking for you.
(ok, I'll need to burn that down)
But you don't seem to be in yet, so I hope we can arrange a lunch DATE soon.
'Oh,'she thought'how many people have read that. Ok, it's decided. My life is over and I'll be associated with him until I switch jobs.'
Sitting in her office she sighed and looked at all the articles she had to proof read before she realized a note was set on top.
"Photo Shoot-WILL DARCY, structure and layout at 11.00am"
'Yay,' she thought' an excuse to not get through all of these'.
She got about halfway when she noticed it was 11.03am
Oh,crap. She got to the studio and realized (thankfully) that they had already started.
"Hey,Char," she said to her longtime best friend and on of the senior editors to the magazine.
"Hey babe, there's a note on your door, could be from that sweet Fedex guy."
"If only,it was from the Frog Prince."
"Now Lizzy, I don't like him any more than you do, but is there really a need for such harsh names?"
At this they both burst out laughing.
"Charlotte, not only do you stick notes on his back but you call him Mr. PRICK-Collins."
"What can I say, the man just makes you want to throw something at him."
"Yes, preferably water, to get rid of the stench. Anyway who's this Will Darcy? Doesn't his name sound familiar?"
"Oh,yeah" said Charlotte with a dreamy look "He's New York's most eligible bachelor, and an electronic whiz kid reportedly worth billions, from his computer company Darcecom - well according to GQ. And He has the face and body of a God."
"Hmmmmm...is that why we are at the photoshoot? I was wondering." Lizzy questioned with the knowing smile on her face.
"Lizzy, sweetie, you know me to well."
"Ohhhhh...is that him."
Across the room she could see the back of tall stranger.
"Certainly, but just wait till he turns around."
But when he did Elizabeth was speechless.
"So what do you think?"
Lizzy had no words as Mr. Tall, Dark and nasty was staring her straight in the face.
Chapter 2

"Ooooo isn't he pretty?"
"Pretty mean, yes and rude."
"What are you talking about you've never met him before have yo-". But she was cut off by Darcy who said
"Ms. Lucas are we nearly ready to begin I have a pressing engagement at 12.30pm."
"Yes, Mr.Darcy this is Elizabeth Bennet one of our editors, she'll be overseeing this project."
"Oh," he said as he clearly looked her up and down "We have already met, Ms. Bennet was kind enough to acquaint me with the exquisite flooring of your top offices."
Lizzy was now angry, she had already apologized and now he was embarrassing her in front of her boss/friend. So it was decided somehow she would have her revenge.
Later on as she was coming out of the lift, and whilst fumbling for her keys she walked towards her car. This car was her one true love, she had worked so hard to get were she was and this was what she had bought to celebrate. It was black with a roof that folded into the boot, 4 seated with leather interior, complete with CD changer and all the works. The minute she saw it she knew it was designed for her.
Grinning she realized there was someone beside it either wondering at the paintwork or maybe they had hit it and were deciding the best way to cover it up. Oh,God it was Will Darcy. Just as she was about to turn and go back to her office for a while he called
"Ms. Bennet, this remarkable car has blocked me in, do you happen to know who it belongs to."
"Fortunately, I do Mr. Darcy," she replied as she waved her keys at him.
"Who would have guessed?" Unfortunately for him this was the last straw for Lizzy, who was absolutely seething.
"Just what is your problem, Mr. Darcy. I have already apologized for knocking you down this morning, and I really see no point in your continuing rudeness towards me, so why don't you just build yourself a bridge* and move on." So with this she strode past him, and started to open her car door.
"Ms. Bennet, I didn't mean to be so rude forgive me. But when I said 'Who would have guessed,' I meant that the car suited you...ehm, that is to say it would match your personality."
Lizzy gave him a skeptical look and as she got in car she said
"If you say so....well it is a beautiful car."
"Yeah, it's a real work of art."
But he wasn't looking at the car.
