Re: Yes, weird about fits -

I wanted so much to like The Eyre Affair. The whole premise is so clever and I wanted it to jell into the same sort of love I have for Patrick O'Brien. Just didn't happen. I think in SciFi/Fantasy authors sometimes get so wrapped up in world building that they allow that to divert from the story. There just wasn't enough Eyre in the affair for me.

Yes, weird about fits -

- and I suppose one either loves it or hates it, there doesn't seem to be any middle ground.

Have you read Shades of Grey yet? I am eager to read that one, though I heard it's quite a bit different from the other books. And then, I recently read on Fforde's website that he also has a book about dragonslayers out this autumn - and the summary looked quite intriguing!

Even the Nursery Crime Division books are fairly off the wall. I think, if I had to give him a genre, it would be "Weird"... which is probably why I like his work so much!

I'd love the copy, but I've already got two :)

I kept hoping that when the initial scene ended, she would go home and be normal, but there were some weird things there too.

Anyone who wants it can have it for christmas.

Lots of literary in-jokes too.
