A story published here by Shemmelle in 1999-2000 has been republished at a big fanfiction site by a user named "KittyBennetFanficCollector." While Shemmelle is credited it's not clear this person has permission to republish this work, especially at a commercial site supported by advertising from which authors receive no benefit. I haven't seen anything by/about Shemmelle in +10 years, have no idea how to contact them about this situation that may constitute intellectual property theft. The poster has made a little group where the stories are posted and there's always the adoring comments about how wonderful she is for doing this and how much people miss the stories.

I can totally see certain personalities doing that.

But, there are also comments from others who are making statements about how they would like to edit the stories and other similar things. These comments are dangerous. Since the stories are stolen from their original posting places here at DWG, the copyrights are no longer visible and those who want to edit may do just that and could publish them as their own and the further the dishonesty trail goes, the harder it would be for the original authors to get back their rights to their story.

Whyyyyy would someone want to edit them - and then do what with them?
I mean, I just spent 20 pages what-iffing one of my own stories into another direction instead of working, but that was my own.

Hasn't stealing stories happened before, but then in the form of them being translated into Russian? I can't remember whose stories, but I think some of the old crowd were also affected (I mean those who started out here with me, also in the 90s).

I am continuing to report each story as it is posted. I've been around the JAFF world since back in the 90s and have a great deal of respect for the writers and can't stand this kind of blatant dishonesty. And, like I said, there are even a few names of other authors on her favorable comments. Wonder how they would feel if the stories that are stolen are their own? If you see any of these at FFN, please report them.
