Are these the Stephanie Barron books?

Aside from all my bugbears on these two issues (footnotes & titles), It was quite a well written book, except I thought the solution was far too involved and I got confused. Ie the solution was pulled out of nowhere (to me) after not much foreshadowing . Anyway I don't think I'll be reading another one of her books in a hurry.
My full review is actually reading back on it about 18 months after I read it really hilarious. My fist waving over the footnotes and titles. Surely they couldn't have been that bad?
