'Their Share of Vexations' and 'Hell's Gate', by Lucrezia, are such stories; note that the second one isn't finished, and it has been some time since anything has been added. Requiem, by the same author is such a story, but modern. I find all of her stories very entertaining.

I also like a lot of these stories, and look forward to examples.
