They finally received much good news - yes! Loved the line about the gown alterations; yes, probably better not to have Anne do them with newly acquired skills. The wearing-of-the-gown tradition is wonderful. Glad Sophie will have her evening gown as well. I like the thought of her going to sea again.
"The parlor was even more boring than supper, because at table, at least they could talk about the food." That made me laugh. It's really fun to see Mary growing up and maturing. She'll have a solid basis for relationships with whomever and of whatever rank (and THE relationship when she's ready). The contrast to Sir Walter and Elizabeth is glaring.
