Tom Bertram was a challenging surprise to me: wanted to show he still has room for improvement (ie can't remember the sister's name), but also that he's grown and growing. Mostly I needed a hopeful/good conclusion to this deck of knaves I'd drawn, which putting Mansfield Park in that slot (ironically) provided.
Mr. Collins would be proud to accept your compliments to Lady Catherine on her behalf (unaware of any irony implied). I don't think it's too far a stretch for that woman to have opinions on the size of families, given all the other "kind advice" she offers.
