I'm guessing Wickham was sent to Longbourn to bring Mr Bennet to the crime scene in his capacity as sheriff. The question I have is whether Wickham's expression of fear/concern etc was real or an act.
And who else knew about or overheard the conversation between Denny and Collins at the ball in which Collins, shortly before Denny was killed, addressed Denny's "transgressions" against Elizabeth and her sisters. Did he mean the Bennet girls literally or all gentlewomen of similar age? And what did that conversation have to do with Denny's murder?
I still believe Denny was a blackmailer so perhaps Collins, in his rambling, spoke of others who may have been Denny's victims and the murderer had to quiet him.
This is a great story!
