So of course the first thing Mary does is ask about Tom's condition. She's just dying to know. She's asking everyone! And stupid Edmund thinks it's all out of concern! Henry's acting skills have not diminished, I see! I hope Sir Thomas will be able to see enough to figure out the truth. I was surprised that Henry openly confessed all to his sister. I know they are very close and in each other's confidence, and I'm sure she knew what was going on, and I guess he kind of had to admit it to explain to his sister about what he'd learned from Sir Thomas. She is as practical as ever. The scene reminded me of her conversation with Edmund in MP on how to repair Maria's reputation after the scandal. Then Mary acknowledges her own dark hopes to Henry! I did enjoy Henry's parting sentiment to his sister. After reading the conversation between Mary and Henry, I better understand your earlier comments and your interpretation of exactly how things stood with Maria when Henry left London.
