I originally started writing this in 2014 in response to the JaOctGoHoNo prompt "10" and I obviously didn't finish it in time because my brain had latched onto what became "Bad Things Come in Threes" so I set this aside and forgot about it for years. Then I finally picked it up and finished it and it was the wrong time of year for this sort of story so I set it aside for a few more years. And now I'm staring at another Halloween and I'm not going to wait any longer!!!
