    Chapter 21

Lately things for Lizzy were either challenging, tough, or just annoying. Even though Will was coming home soon, things just weren't getting easier. For one, school was getting tough. Assignments due right on top of each other, her professors were strict with their guidelines and since her mid terms were coming up, she was tight for studying and dreaming of summer vacation. Next, was her singing. Since Charlotte was off and away with her boyfriend Dr. Collins, she hardly had anytime to prep with Lizzy. Marianne tried to help, but since her engagement with Robert, she was unable to play and sing with Lizzy like they used to do. Therefore, Lizzy dropped singing at the pub and decided to use her free time, aka in her truck, in the elevator, in the shower, at home, to sing and practice. This helped free up some of her nights, but it didn't feel like it. School only invaded more. She was somewhat tight for money, but unable to work overtime after work, so she would come in early in the morning and work through lunch to catch up and get extra funds. But all of this was the least of Lizzy's true problems. The annoying problems. Caroline and her mother.

Mrs. Bennet decided that since Will had left, it was because of her and therefore was determined to remind Lizzy as often as possible. Not to mention that Lizzy was to stay with the girls, Lydia and Kitty, whenever she was late at work or had important errands to run. What made it worse was that Tinley had to join the party as well. Tinley did not get along with Jack and Jack was just as annoyed with Tinley as Lizzy was with him. Lizzy thought over the conversation she tried to have with her mother when Mrs. Bennet called to let her know of her plans.

‘Mom I'm not doing it. They are old enough to watch after themselves and Tinley doesn't need as much attention as you give him. Besides he nips and barks at Jack. ‘

‘Lizzy, the girls are not to be alone. Ever since your sister pulled that stunt with your father of staying with Lily Foster and really staying with Denny and lying to him, he won't have them alone! Now you will watch them while I go do some errands in the city. I'll be dropping them off tomorrow around nine so be up and ready. I've talked to Jane who says that she will be out with Charles. Good! All the better I say. But you...you Lizzy...have you heard from Will?'

Lizzy bit her lip and then sighed inwardly.

    ‘Not recently, no.'

‘See...it's all your fault. I swear Lizzy, do you ever plan to marry? Sometimes I think not. You are determined not to give me grandchildren.'

Lizzy couldn't help but say a bit loudly but mostly to herself, ‘Ask Lydia...I'm sure she would oblige.'

    ‘What?'

    ‘Nothing.'

‘Lizzy don't mumble. I can't stand when you mumble. Now I will drop the girls off and Tinley sharply at nine.'

‘Mom please...I can't watch them. I have homework to do and I have to go to work for a couple hours, if I can after homework, and do some work there. Where's dad?'

‘Your father is out of town for a conference or some such thing. So you are my only hope.'

It was useless to fight with her when she was determined. Lizzy had inherited that trait from her mother. She cursed under her breath and accepted.

Lizzy shook her head at the memory of such a conversation. It actually didn't go as bad as she was thinking it would. Tinley kept to himself and Jack stayed with Lizzy. Lydia was sick so she slept or watched TV the whole time and Kitty was busy with homework and watching TV with Lydia. All in all it wasn't so bad.

However, leading from that to the other was Caroline. That was as bad as it sounded. For a while Caroline was civil and somewhat pleasant to work with. Now all of a sudden, she's been awful. Her old attitude returning. Defiance at everything and nothing was done simply. It was always made out complicated with her. She would always have an opinion on something and if she didn't get her way, she would go above Lizzy.

This was frustrating for Lizzy to handle. She first found it amusing, but after it was demonstrated by Caroline to be doing this at every opportunity, it became instantly dreadful.

Lizzy didn't feel the need to go to Charles about it. She wanted to handle it her way and not feel to have to tattle. That brought up a problem though. She couldn't very well explain or vent to Jane about it. She would most likely in the sweetest way possible try to persuade Charles to help but in the best interest of her sister would the suggestion be made. Lizzy didn't want the trouble. Instead she kept it in until she could talk to someone. Will would have been the person she wanted to talk to, but she knew he was busy. So instead, she turned to her dad.

Mr. Bennet was indeed a very busy man, but he always tried to make time for his family. Especially, Lizzy and Jane, however, when they did try to meet on their usual Tuesdays, it was hardly the three of them all together. Most of the time, Jane couldn't make it or Lizzy had class. Even Mr. Bennet would have his meetings or such. But lately, he would meet with Lizzy at the apartment or their favorite restaurant to have a quick dinner or such. This was all the comfort Lizzy looked forward to with Will gone and things around her going haywire.

Mr. Bennet could easily tell her distress and Lizzy wasn't one to hide it and make him guess.

    ‘It's hard isn't it?'

    Lizzy nodded.

Mr. Bennet haphazardly smiled at his second eldest and laid his wise hand on his daughter's.

‘It will get easier you know. I promise you that. Remember...this too shall pass.'

Lizzy grinned and squeezed his hand.

‘I know. I just find it hard to see that light when the tunnel is so dark. But I understand. I trust in that understanding.'

‘I'm sorry mom put upon you the girls and Tinley the other weekend. I would of taken care of them should I of been home.'

‘I know dad. It was okay. They actually allowed me to study and get things done. I guess I just miss Will and I miss Jane not always being there. I miss everything that was, you know? It's hard at times.'

‘Yes it can be, but remember that through a rain storm, there is always a rainbow. Corny as it sounds it is true. Will will come home and Jane is always your sister. Even Marianne will be your best friend. You'll find your happiness soon enough. Why, what about me? Doesn't your father make you happy? Even just a smidgen?'

Lizzy smiled and started, ‘Oh dad of course you make me happy. You've been spending your time with me and having dinner with me. I cherish these days and times with you. They will always mean a lot to me.'

Mr. Bennet couldn't help but smile at his daughter. It was good to see her set her priorities straight again and not get her head too far up in the clouds. But her happiness, no matter what it would be, meant more to him than anything.

    ‘Just be happy my love.'

‘It's not just that dad. It's actually more than that. I'm having this problem with Caroline, Charles' sister. She's been infuriating and insufferable for the past two weeks. Anything I do, tell her to do, or even ask is defied. She even goes to John or even higher if she doesn't get her way.' Lizzy said in one breath.

This produced a chuckle from her father who shook his head and tried hard not to laugh. His daughter's life was full of amusement for him and in the best manner. They both would find the best sort of enjoyment. But to laugh at Lizzy's situation when it was obviously bothering her was something he knew was wrong to do and immediately apologized.

‘Just think,' He said,' maybe this is her way of getting back at you for stealing Will from her.' He ended with a wink.

‘That's not funny. I did not steal him away from her. He knew what he was doing and he did the right thing if he wanted anything to do with me. I didn't ask for him right away. He pressed on me.'

‘Don't get so worked up sweetie. I'm just putting things into a perspective. Caroline was engaged to him wasn't she?'

    Lizzy nodded.

‘Well, if she was planning on marrying the man, and then her plans went to spoil, don't you think she would feel some sort of amniosity against you in just a little bit of the way?'

‘That makes senses,' Lizzy said before finishing her wine,' but she doesn't need to bring it out on me directly. If I were her, I would have a word or two with Will.'

Mr. Bennet brought one more plot thinker into the mix which set Lizzy off racing with thoughts.

‘Maybe she will have a word with him, but not in the way of anger. Try more in the way of wanting.'

‘Wanting? You mean she would try to steal him from me?'

    He only shrugged.

‘I think that Will's heart would be in the right place should that ever happen. From what you have told me regarding Caroline, she's not to be trusted and if Will were stupid enough to fall for her tricks, then he doesn't deserve you my dear. In fact, I would make sure he never spoke with you again.'

Lizzy smiled and immediately gave into her thoughts.

That dinner for Lizzy with her father was a most pleasant one, but also left her with things to think about. Caroline was insufferable and intolerable. She wanted her to just vanish into thin air. Why was she becoming a problem now? What made her drive to such lengths to be so rude and unforgiving? After much thinking one afternoon and too many Milano cookies, Lizzy came up with a determined motive not to give into Caroline's antics and notions. She wasn't what Will wanted otherwise they would be together. Right? Will had said that he loved her and not Caroline. Will was a man of his word from what she noticed so far. He wouldn't just hurt her for the fun of it, would he? Lizzy again had to practically shake herself from thinking so stupid. And she also had to realize that an empty bag of Milano cookies wasn't going to help the situation either.

No. Instead, she was determined to think what she had before of Caroline and not let her bother her. Satisfied and happy with this decision, Lizzy went on with her day. Working on piles of maill and emails, invoices, and reports, she needed a drink.

‘Have a good evening everyone. I'm going home.' Lizzy said and got no response from her co-workers. Understandably they were all working, well, with the exception of Caroline who was on the phone apparently with her hairdresser, Mark. Lizzy knew this from her loud and annoying conversation regarding highlights or lowlights.

And this is how the week had ended for her.

Will was already happy to be going home. By the time he reached his hotel room, he started packing right away and make the necessary preparations for a car to be waiting for him. He wasn't to go home straight away. Since he was in England, he decided that a visit to Pemberley should be made in order to go over the wedding preparations he already had with him. He also was going to make a short visit to Georgie and then be off for Virginia.

Nothing could make him more happier than to be able to live his life again and with a woman he loved so dearly. Brandson found him softly singing to himself as he quickly packed his dirty laundry in a plastic bag.

‘Going so soon? But I thought you loved me.' Brandson said to get Will's attention.

‘Oh Frank, you know we never would of worked out. What with your messy eating habits and my habitual womanizing.' Will smirked and intercepted a pillow.

‘Yes well you are right. Lizzy would provide a problem now wouldn't she?'

‘Ahh no my friend. She is such a vision, such a dream. I could see no problems with her. Ever in fact.'

Brandson perched himself on the desk in Darcy's room and crossed his arms.

‘Hmm, true. That Caroline Bingley is a real...' Brandson would of continued if not for Darcy's pleading look not to.

‘Yes well. Make sure you get back to the states safely. You are going back right away aren't you?'

‘Actually no.' Will said as he gathered his things from the bathroom.

‘I'm going to Pemberley for a few days then I want to see Georgiana for a short visit and then I'll return home.' He said all while packing.

‘Right...Pemberley. Doesn't Mrs. Reynolds keep the place then?'

‘Yes she does. Has been since I was a child. I'm holding Robert Brandon's wedding there, I told you that. I have to make sure what I have coordinates with what she has.'

    ‘Does Georgie know about Wickham?'

‘She does. She's quite...relieved.' Will replied and then started looking around the room for anything left behind.

‘You're in quite a hurry you know.'

‘Wouldn't have it any other way. I want to get home. I've been cooped up here way too long. One more night here and I think I shall die.'

‘Missing the arms of your Miss...what's her name? Benton? Beneth?'

‘Bennet. And yes I do miss everything about her. So I don't want to delay. I should see her next week should everything go all right.'

‘Oh I'm sure. Well,' Brandson smacked his hands together and stood, ‘I'm going home. I've been packed for about three hours now and was just waiting around for you. The Mrs. Has made me a feast. So I'm sorry chum. Going to have to leave you now. It's been so wonderful and all.'

Darcy's face had a wide smile and his hand embraced Brandson's.

‘A pleasure like always. Thank you Frank for everything you've done. I don't know how I can ever repay you for helping me like you have.'

‘Oh don't worry my old friend. The bill will be in the mail tomorrow. Take care Will. I'll call you in two weeks.'

Brandson left to leave, but stopped and turned round once again watching Will finish packing.

‘Another thought before I go. I know you wanted me to look into your girlfriend's case regarding her lately ex boyfriend. I uh I'll get into that in after next week is out. I need a vacation after this event. Besides, nothing will go through until next month. The will isn't read until May. Gives me plenty of time.'

‘Have you contacted her father's firm?'

    Brandson nodded.

‘I've got my fingers in it. Don't you worry your pretty head off Darcy. Tell your sister and housekeeper hello from us. I'll be sure to do the same for my wife.'

    ‘Goodbye Frank.'

    ‘Bye Darcy.'

Will wasn't even half an hour at the hotel when he packed. Ten minutes after Brandson left him, he was in the lobby checking out and with his mobile in hand to call ahead to his housekeeper. As he signed out and walked to the front of the building to exit, he got round to Mrs. Reynolds.

    ‘Pemberley.'

‘Mrs. Reynolds, it's Will. My business in London has wrapped up and instead of hanging around here, I've decided to come home for a few days.'

‘Oh that's wonderful. Would you like me to keep a meal for you or are you returning a bit late?'

‘Oh yes, I would love some real food. I should be home around seven.'

    ‘Everything will be ready sir.'

After clicking off from his call, he gave instructions to his driver and was off.

It was a good four hours from London to his estate. But being that he met with Wickham first thing this morning and packed straight away when he got back to his hotel room, he was enjoying the ride home quite immensely.

Lizzy was quite happy when she re-read Will's email about his return home. She missed him dearly and knowing that he would be returning gave her a lot to look forward to. Things would be right again. Hopefully he wouldn't have to leave anytime soon for urgent business.

Jane and Charles were told by Lizzy and Will himself about his return and both were excited to see him again. Charles was missing his best friend and Jane wasn't happy knowing Lizzy was down without him.

Jane understood her sister's situation as best as she could. She tried to spend quality time with her instead of going out almost every night she had free with Charles. But Lizzy persuaded her sister to continue with her happiness and not settle for less time.

‘If I were you Jane, I would console me best I could but I would also continue my happiness and spend my time with Charles. It's not like Will is never coming home. He'll be here next week. ‘

    Jane wasn't satisfied.

‘Well if you want it that way, then I'll invite Charles here.'

Lizzy shook her head in amusement.

‘That's not what I meant Jane. Go off and have fun. Jack and I will entertain ourselves with a movie.'

‘Lizzy, you come home practically every night and watch a movie when you don't have things to do. Could you please come out with us?'

‘No Jane I refuse. I have all my homework done, I've put a call into Marianne and Elinor about dinner and Jack needs some love from me. Can't do it. Not today.'

Jane gave up without a fight. She wasn't going to win if she tried on the issue. Instead she waited for Charles to pick her up and go out to dinner like they had planned.

Meanwhile, Lizzy got a call back from Marianne and Elinor agreeing to dinner and afterwards a movie at Lizzy's.

After a warm and yummy dinner from a local diner and then heading over with dessert in hand of chocolate chip cake, the girls went over to Lizzy and Jane's to watch a movie. When they got to the apartment, Lizzy told her two friends of Charlotte's new beau.

‘You are too funny for words Lizzy. How come you never said anything about this before?' Marianne cried out through her bursts of laughter.

‘Who would believe me? I didn't think anyone would believe that Charlotte is going with a toady.'

‘Well I for one would! She could of done so much better yet she chooses him? Of all men your mother's boss??' Marianne replied.

‘Is he the one I met when I took you Marianne to see Lizzy after school?'

‘Oh yes! He's the short balding one with the cheesy smile.' Marianne nodded with a huge smile, ‘ So why are we finding out about this now dear Lizzy?'

Lizzy looked down at Jack who was sleeping quietly next to her and grinned.

‘To tell the truth, I've been so busy with everything lately that I haven't had the chance to catch up with you two. I'm almost done with school this semester and I won't be going back until fall. So I have more time to spend with my friends.'

‘Right I can understand. Robert and I have been so busy lately with meeting family, seeing old friends of his and finding a new place that it's been frantic.'

‘Yes it has.' Elinor agreed and smiled warmly at Marianne.

‘You're busy?' Marianne questioned her sister.

‘Well I do have a life too dearest. I've been everywhere with you for looking at homes while Robert is at work and also trying to keep up with my relationship with Edward too you know.'

    ‘Hmm...' Marianne sighed in contemplation.

‘Seems we are all busy, but the best part of it is that we continue to stay friends and not let anything too wonderful come between us.'

‘Have you spoken with Charlotte lately?' Elinor asked.

    Lizzy shook her head.

‘Not since she told me. To be quite honest, I don't really know what we would talk about. I love her and want her to be happy but I can't see her truly happy with him. But if that's who she wants and she knows that he will make her happy then I am happy for her. I can't make her see what I see, but I don't have to agree with her choice either.'

Silence stilled upon the three and then Lizzy repeated what Charlotte said about her match with Will.

‘I don't know if she truly meant anything by it, but I can understand what she is trying to get across. I'm lucky. We are all very lucky to have found someone who makes us happy. But I can't say in all honesty that my relationship has been smooth or successful.'

‘Oh I think it has been pretty successful so far. Don't you think Marianne?'

‘Oh yes. Will has been saved from marrying a wench who is money hungry. You have saved him whether you know it or not. The best part is, you make him so happy. I am still bewildered at how you two got together and more so why you two never met earlier through our circle.'

‘You have a point there Marianne. She's right you know Lizzy. Will wasn't always as open and easy to be with before you entered his life. He was proud, a bit arrogant, but always kind hearted. He guarded himself too often and that's never good for one person. It's not that you saved him from a disappointing marriage, it's that you saved him from himself and showed him hope. You gave him life.'

Lizzy blushed and clicked off the TV that was playing a movie neither of the three of them were watching.

‘Yes! That's true Lizzy. Will is a man that most would want and has been the prey of many women.'

‘Caroline in particular I believe.' Elinor hinted before taking a sip of her wine.

‘I'll agree with you on that one, Elinor.' Marianne chimed.

‘You're quite lucky Lizzy to have Will as your man. You both are lucky to have each other.'

Will reached Pemberley late that evening but in a good mood. As soon as he saw his home he was relieved. He felt at home and without delay he went inside to find Mrs. Reynolds waiting for him.

‘Supper is ready for you sir. Where would you have it?'

‘Oh in the kitchen is fine. I don't need to eat in the dining room.'

    ‘As you wish.'

After dinner, Will emailed Lizzy, Charles, and his secretary all letting them know his exact return dates etc.

A big sigh and a hand rushing through his hair, determined that it was time to sleep.

The next morning Will awoke refreshed and thrilled to breath fresh country air. He had such vigor he went immediately to the kitchen and found Mrs. Breth, his cook, whipping up a fabulous breakfast for him.

‘Ah...Gloria how are you this morning?'

‘Oh fine my dear. Beverly told me of your return so I decided that you would like your usual breakfast.'

‘You decided that for me eh?' he asked with a grin.

‘Yes my boy I did and it will be ready in a jif. Sit yourself down and be ready for your usual.' She said as she turned some sizzling sausages.

Mrs. Breth had been the family chef for years. Ever since Will was a young child. She fell in love with the children and became quite close through her cooking for them. Will and Georgie were pretty close with Mrs. Reynolds and Mrs. Breth.

Will did as he was told and within a few moments, his feast was before him.

‘Mmm...you still know my weakness don't you?' Will asked as he sampled his piping hot popover.

‘Oh yes. Don't you ever think I'll forget it. Now what would you like for lunch and dinner?'

‘Well I'm only here for a few days so no big feasts mind you. I don't know. Just the usual plates of food you serve for me when I stay a short time. I'm not looking for a huge feast Gloria.'

‘Right well that's all fine and dandy. I'll make what I feel is best for you.'

    ‘Thank you Gloria.'

Will enjoyed his breakfast very much, but didn't want to waste any time for working with his housekeeper.

About twenty minutes later, Will was found by Mrs. Reynolds in the sunroom going over the plans they had made so far.

‘Sir would you like anything to drink?'

‘Uh no that's alright. I'm just going over what I see here and what I brought with me.'

‘Yes you faxed over to me the guest list and the information I need to make the travel arrangements. Now I made up a seating chart but I don't want to put it in place until we have the RSVPs returned. Have invitations been made?'

‘Not exactly. According to Marianne and Robert, they have sent the immediate family theirs but no one else's. I think we should have those printed as soon as possible so dates can be set and everything. I also want to include that should they attend, to make reservations with you regarding the travel arrangements and room requirements.'

    ‘Yes sir.'

‘Now, the flowers, I would like for Robert and Marianne to travel here to see the gardens around June. Would that be possible? I need to make sure that everything is how Marianne and Robert want it to be.'

‘There should be no problem with that. I can contact Marianne right away and set up a time convenient for them to visit.'

‘Hmm yes. That should do. Now...let's check Robert's notes here regarding the menu and color scheme.'

This continued on for the remainder of the day until early evening where Will decided to stop and take a long ride out around the grounds until dusk.

This always calmed him and made him feel even more at home. As he surveyed the land, he stopped at the top of the hill that overlooked Pemberley. Breathtaking as it was, he felt a pang and not being able to share the moment of watching the sun set with Lizzy.

Lizzy felt her own pangs...the pangs of having a headache from listening to Caroline and Michelle go back and forth in their meeting.

‘Are you trying to sabotage me? I work hard in this company and have been doing so since I started here four years ago. And you think you can come up in here and just take over from all of our work?? Just because your brother is the CEO of the company and your ex owns it, doesn't mean you can trollop up in here and bark out orders. This is not your company we have workflows and processes in place for your tight butt to follow.'

‘How dare you speak to me in this manner when I hold up this team with my work efforts.'

‘Work efforts? What work efforts? All I see you do everyday is talk to your hairdresser, your manicurist, or your sister. For goodness sake, we ALL can hear it! Caroline you have another thing coming if you think that you can run this team. That's why Lizzy is here, that's why we are here and that's why what we have been doing has worked for so long. You just got here. How can you have any sway? We weren't told to treat you any better than anyone else. We are a team. T-E-A-M. With all the work you think you do, can you understand that?' Michelle ended sharply.

Caroline could only scoff and try to think of something to say. This had been going on for almost an hour. Since the meeting started Caroline had opened her mouth to voice her opinions and "suggestions" in changing the team's perspective. This didn't go well with Michelle, who always voices her opinion gladly, and rightly so.

Krista could only roll her eyes and sit back for a bumpy ride.

This was starting to remind Lizzy of her sisters arguments over nothing. However this was actually something, it wasn't anything new. Caroline was always trying to butt in and take over and then Lizzy would have to step her down with her team and occasionally John behind her.

With her elbows on the meeting table, her head in her hands and her mind screaming to shut down, Lizzy tried to calmly quiet the two women down.

‘Okay,' she started softly but got no response except more yelling between the two.

‘Okay.' She repeated ‘You two! Stop this! This is ridiculous, you two are fighting over something that is easily solvable.'

The two women stared at Lizzy both looking offending at being interrupted.

‘Let me go get some aspirin for this headache you two created and then I'll tell you my solution.'

Before anyone could object, Lizzy was out the door and walking towards her desk. The meeting room was on the other side of the building and up two flights so she had to take a shortcut to get there. If she didn't take the shortcut which was walking through the private hallway of the CEO, aka Charles's office, and then down the back stairs she wouldn't of bumped into Charles himself. She didn't mean to run into him.

    ‘Oh Lizzy! How are you?'

‘Charles. Hi. I'm just in a meeting in conference room 12.'

‘Do you usually meet up here?'

Lizzy searched for words as she felt ackward talking with Charles at work and about work no doubt.

‘Uh no...not usually. I tried to book it for our usual room but it was full and I only have access to that room or the other meeting room in membership. Both were booked and so I had to call for clearance to the next available which was this one.' She ended quietly.

‘Ah well it's nice to see you at work. Always seeing each other outside but hardly ever here. Except when I have to see Caroline.'

    Lizzy nodded.

‘I'm sorry Charles but I have to get some aspirin. My head feels like it will split before I get back in there.'

    ‘Oh? Something going wrong?'

‘Oh no no! It's just, I have a couple teammates going through some rough patches about the new workflows I've put in place to better our productivity and I just...'

A look from Charles was read all too well by Lizzy.

‘Well let me help you. Come with me.'

He led her down the rest of the hallway and then before it ended, he sharply turned into a supply room and located a bottle of aspirin for her.

‘Here you go.' He said cheerfully.

    ‘Thank you.'

Lizzy turned to leave but was stopped with Charles starting to speak.

    ‘Lizzy, water cooler's right here.'

She smiled and walked over to the cooler. After sipping some water and swallowing the tablets, she thanked him again and said she would need to get back.

‘No problem. I'll most likely see you tonight. Have a good one Lizzy!' and he waved off leaving Lizzy to go back to her meeting.

Will was bittersweet on leaving Pemberley. He was glad to be closer to his leaving date and he was sad to leave his favorite place in the world. But Mrs. Reynolds reminded him that he would be returning shortly, in fact, in only a couple of months if not less with his friends.

This cheered him up and so he left Pemberley pleased and on his way to have lunch with Georgie.

The drive was a lengthy one, but pleasant all the same. The weather was chilly but a warm breeze would flow through once in a while. By the time Will came up the drive of Georgie's flat, she was waiting for him outside.

‘It's chilly out here sweetie, shouldn't you be inside/'

‘Hello Will, it's just fine out here. No worries. You hungry? I made macaroni and cheese.'

    Will laughed and nodded.

    ‘Sounds tasty.'

Georgie agreed and led him inside. Her flat was a cozy place. Nothing too large being that she was mostly at school than she was at home. But it accommodated to all of her needs and Will made sure that she was taken care of.

‘Sit down and take a load off. Lunch will be ready in a few minutes.'

    ‘How's school going for you?'

‘Fine. I have a few labs I have to do this coming week and then a paper due but it's all routine. How was Mrs. Reynolds and Mrs. Berth?'

‘Well. They are all well. Excited for the summer and to see you. I did tell you about Marianne and Robert's wedding that I'm hosting at Pemberley this summer right?'

‘You mentioned it yes. Didn't you have to go over things with Mrs. Reynolds?'

‘Yes I did. Anyways, I'm just glad to be rid of Wickham and go on from there to more important things.'

Georgie came out of her kitchen with two bowls of gooey warm macaroni and cheese.and two glasses of milk.

‘Hmm like Lizzy?' she asked with a smile.

Will only blushed and scooped a bite of his meal into his mouth.

    ‘Right. That's what I thought.'

‘Anyways, sweetie, this lunch is very good.'

‘Thank you Will. Would you like anything else?'

    ‘No thank you love.'

Will stayed for only a couple more hours and then took his leave. It was tough but also as bittersweet as it was, it was never the end. He made plans to see his sister if she could when he came back with Robert and Marianne.

After that, he was off to go home.

    Chapter 22

It was a long flight. Will was tired and it was late. All he wanted to do was go home and sleep for days.

Much to Will's pleasure, his hired car was waiting for him outside the Dulles Airport and the chaufer was placing his luggage into the trunk. Will sank himself into the leather seat in the back of the car and rested his head against the headrest. It would be about 45 minutes before he got home. So basically in an hour he would be in bed.

His mind wasn't thinking of anything important. Just rambling through the thoughts of being home and what he would do when he felt more rested. Of course, his first thought was Lizzy. He would see her of course. His lips broke into a tired smile just thinking about her.

It was near one thirty in the morning when Will's driver pulled up to his house. He slightly coaxed his passenger awake and once his luggage was inside, he left. Will barely spoke to him but paid him for the service and left his luggage in the hallway as he stepped up to his room and went to bed.

It was nearly eleven in the morning when Will awoke to the peace and quiet of his room, of the house. He slowly got out of bed feeling more refreshed but still tired. After using the restroom, he stepped back into his bedroom and went to the window. Outside it was quiet and peaceful. A couple birds flew past chirping hello and Will stood there running his hand through his hair. It felt so good to be home.

Without uttering a word, he went downstairs and into the kitchen to make a cup of coffee. Noticing the time on the microwave, he grabbed his phone and punched in Lizzy's work number.

It had rung two times before she answered.

    ‘Lizzy Bennet.'

‘Good morning madam. I trust your morning is going well?'

‘Will! Oh Will are you home?"

He suppressed a chuckle and affirmed her question.

‘Was wondering if you would like to come over for dinner tonight?'

‘Oh Will I'd love to. What time were you thinking?'

‘How about 6? That gives you time to get here after work. That okay?'

    ‘Sure.'

‘Good. Then I'll tell you everything I missed about you while I was gone...and show you even more.'

Lizzy blushed as she said all right and clicked off.

It was hard for Lizzy to concentrate on anything else. Will was home. Finally!! She wasn't sure how much longer she could wait until he would come home. Now he was! But that was all she could think about was him...and mostly what he was planning on doing tonight. No one could get her in a bad mood today, she thought. Not even Caroline.

After talking with Lizzy, Will called Charles.

‘It's great to hear you got home okay. If you wanted I would of picked you up.'

‘Not necessary but thank you. How is everything at the office?'

    Charles sighed and then replied.

‘It's going pretty well. Had lunch with Jane just now. About to go to Arlington for a meeting. How was your flight?'

‘Exhausting. I'm just glad to be home.'

‘Right. I'm sure you are. Well how about dinner with me and Jane tonight. Lizzy of course will be there. Say around seven?'

‘Sorry my friend, Lizzy is on her way here tonight. I've already got plans.'

Charles laughed and admitted defeat at being not quick enough for his good friend.

‘Well take care and call me tomorrow. Better yet, how about we have a late breakfast tomorrow at our usual place eh?'

‘I'll be happy to Charles. See you then and tell Jane hello for me.'

After hanging up, Will took a shower, dressed, and unpacked. About two hours later, Will wrote a list of things needed and went shopping.

Lizzy felt exhausted after lunch with the work she settled herself to complete. By the time she got home, she sat on the couch, snuggled with Jack a bit and then willed herself to get up and get ready to see Will. After she emerged from the steaming bathroom, she was caught by Jane who had a smile plastered to her angelic face.

‘So Charles told me Will's back. Am I to understand that you're going over there tonight?'

Lizzy nodded with a huge grin.

    ‘I'm having dinner with him.'

    Jane nodded slowly.

‘Right. Well I won't wait up. In fact, I'll be in bed early tonight.'

    ‘Why's that?'

‘Field trip tomorrow. Need to be rested. But Charles and I are going out for dinner so...'

‘Well I guess I'll talk to you tomorrow then huh?'

Lizzy rummaged through her closet looking for something suitable to wear but was becoming discouraged. Jane smiled and quietly walked to her sister's closet and pulled out a nice outfit.

‘Here. Put this on and have a good time.'

Lizzy pulled on the jeans and the soft cotton button down shirt that her sister handed her.

‘I will no fear in that. I can't wait to see him!'

‘I know. He's thinking the same.'

Lizzy quickly put some of her perfume on, her shoes, and left her room to grab her coat and purse. Then she turned to say goodbye to Jane and Jack and left.

Will was anxious. It had been so long, too long since he saw Lizzy. He felt like a schoolboy waiting to be let out for summer vacation. He had dinner in the oven and soft jazz playing from his surround sound speakers. He was worried about his outfit. Too much? Not enough? Simple as jeans and a white sweater could go, he was utterly divine. He decided it would have to do and checked on his dinner. She would be there in a few minutes and he wanted everything perfect. He had a drink set on the table for him and one waiting for her. Before he could check himself again in the hallway mirror, his doorbell rang.

He strode over to the front door, took a deep breath, and slowly opened it.

All fears and nervousness melted immediately as he caught her beautiful green eyes staring at him with happy tears glistening.

‘Will!' She cried out and put her arms around him before he could utter a word back.

The feel of his strong arms holding onto her tightly, made Lizzy feel more love and excitement in seeing him. Will didn't want to let go. All he wanted to do was stand there in the doorway, holding her and inhaling the soft scent of clean shampoo and the floral blend of her perfume. After a few minutes, she pushed him away enough to look up into his eyes and intently gaze at him.

He was already fixing his eyes into hers, seeing her excitement at being with him again and almost gauging the happy tears starting to well within her expressive eyes.

‘I'm so happy you're back! You don't know how excited I have been since you told me you were coming home.'

Will didn't verbally respond. Instead he leaned in for a deep kiss and didn't part until he felt her shiver. He parted from her lips slowly and managed to look behind her to see the outside apparent. He shut the door and held onto Lizzy's hand as he guided her to the kitchen.

‘I've missed you.' He said slowly, thick with feeling.

Lizzy only blushed and nodded her head as she accepted the drink Will had ready for her.

He couldn't help it. He just had to have another taste of her. Before she could swallow her drink, Will took her glass, set it down and took her beautiful face in his hands and slowly ever so slowly dived in to kiss her passionately.

The taste of the crisp white wine still lingering on her lips and mouth were too much for him to not want more. He kissed her for as long as his lungs would allow and when he came up for breath, looked deeply into Lizzy's eyes and flushed face.

She wasted no time in grabbing his face and returning his kiss with even deeper ardor.

All that could be heard was soft moans coming from both of the lovers who ached inside from not seeing each other and being within each other's presence for so long.

Will had to replace her mouth with a bit of air so he could continue, but it wasn't to be. Lizzy was craving conversation now that she was satisfied for a while. His voice was so soothing and calm.

But Will would not stop with showering soft kisses as he spoke into her hair, her neck, and her forehead.

    ‘Will...Will!' She giggled.

‘Hmm...' he attempted as he placed a gentle finger on the back of her hand and kissed her cheek.

‘Are you here for a good while then?'

This made him stop his advances and look at her strangely.

She immediately picked up on his thought and smiled.

‘I just don't want to let you go so soon if you have business to attend to later down the road.'

He grinned and shook his head.

‘No my love, I have no need to return for so long as I did before, but I might have to go back regarding the case later on for a few days.'

    ‘Good.'

    ‘Except...' Will started slowly.

Lizzy groaned softly and looked up into his face him. Sad eyes watched his happy playful ones as he continued on but not before giving her a squeeze of assurance.

‘I have some pressing matters, more happier ones to attend in England coming this May. I have to talk with Robert and Marianne, but I was thinking that maybe they would like to visit Pemberley before the wedding, just to get a feel for the place.'

Lizzy did not fully catch on. Before he could continue, Lizzy's head fell to her chest and found his fingers holding her hand very intriguing. Before she could notice a small scar on his left middle finger, his hand came under her chin and lifted it ever so carefully.

Looking into her sad eyes, he smiled and began again earnestly.

‘However, I would love to have you join me for that time, so that I may show you Pemberley.'

Lizzy brightened by the idea and nodded her contently.

‘Oh yes Will! I would love to come!' She said before hugging him in her arms. Will chuckled at such an acceptance and then held her close.

‘Wonderful. Now...let's have some dinner shall we?. If we don't eat now, I'm afraid my passion for you will never settle and I don't want you mad at me for not feeding you properly.' He said with a grin and moved towards the stove.

Lizzy blushed but quickly let her mouth form the words she wanted to say.

‘Quite the contrary I assure you. I have a hunger all for you which is more tempting than food could ever appease me.'

These words gave the desired effect she was after as Will stopped stirring his pasta and slowly turned around.

His eyes immediately locked onto Lizzy's and he held his breath.

Was she saying what he thought she was saying? Was this the indication of something more she was bequeathing him that he has been dreaming of for so long?

He slightly shook his head and moved cautiously towards her. She stood her ground. She knew what she had said and what levels it would take them. She had a lot of time on her hands and she held such love for him. She wanted to show him how much she truly loved him.

By the time Will reached where Lizzy stood, she reached for his hands and looked down while waiting for him to reply. He gently nudged her chin up with his finger and searched her eyes for the truth.

‘Yes Will. I meant every word.‘

That was all he needed. He slowly embraced her and swayed with her warm body to the tempo of the soft music. His heart was overjoyed and he was feeling a love for her that he never felt for anyone so dear to him.

Lizzy looked up and smiled as he danced her around the great room and then stopped by the fireplace. He continued to sway, but so slowly that he could steal a kiss from the lips of the woman he loved.

Lizzy smiled as she kissed him back, returning the sudden rush of comfort, passion, and tender love she was waiting to give him for so long.

After several moments of embracement and affectionate kisses of strong feelings for each, Will pulled back and looked at her.

He was always watching her, looking at her, gazing at her.

He was truly fixed and transformed when she was around. How his heart beat so! He saw her blush from holding her face in his eyes for so long a time. But no words were needed. They understood completely what they wanted and that they were ready to show each other the love they carried for the other so passionately, so consistently.

Lizzy kissed his lips and parted her mouth but before Will could respond, she moved towards the hallway. Arching her eyebrow, she looked at him to come along.

Will didn't need a second thought to understand her meaning. Without any words or hesitation, he was bounding by her side and without effort, carried her up the stairs.

    Chapter 23

Oh how he wanted her. The delicate feel of her skin and the tender kisses her lips impressed upon his own. He was always dreaming of the night they would share the love they had for each other. Love that he held for her and that he wanted to give her. He would dream about her while in London, while in the hotel, in the car, meetings, shower, anyplace, anywhere she inhabited his thoughts and even his dreams. Not just her physically, but everything about her. Her mind, her wit, the sparkle she beamed whenever they spoke or where in contact. He loved her completely. Utterly and earnestly.

He wanted Lizzy to take her time. To be ready when they would share their love. He would wait forever he need be. Anything to make her happy. It never occurred to him that she would be ready so soon. When he was on the plane to come home, he thought of all the things he wanted to do with her. There was no time limit, just them and the world. He wanted to show her his love in all ways. He didn't want to rush her and he wasn't pressing to make love to her. He would never press it upon her, only encourage her when she was ready. He didn't even plan that as being apart of the evening he had in store. But she surprised him. Here she was, with him. Ready to make love for the first time. He wanted to ensure her readiness and please her any way he could.

But she was ready. She had the time to think it through and she felt it the moment he mentioned going to Pemberley. She had heard so many stories from Georgie and Will, even Charles told a few stories about the grand place. She dreamed of walking the expansive grounds with Will hand in hand, just together. No worries or cares in the world.

When he invited her, that moment she knew she was ready to spend the rest of her life with him. It didn't scare her to admit it. It excited her.

Now they were embracing each other, holding each other, loving each other with warmth, beauty, and happiness.

They were connected in such a way that the energy was not sparking between them, but electrifying them. Together they would gaze into each others eyes, pleasing the other and making it known that this love was real, that it was a true fire never to be blown out or faded.

Will was softly caressing Lizzy's shoulder and humming a soft melody in her ear. Lizzy's lips upturned into such a beautiful smile that Will had caught his breath and held it for a long while.

She's so beautiful. So content. I do that to her...I make her happy. Will thought as he continued to stroke her shoulder watching her closed eyes peacefully rest and her smile sweetly grace her face.

‘Lizzy...I love you.' he whispered ever so softly.

A very flattering shade of pink settled into Lizzy's cheeks and her eyes slowly opened to reveal her dark green eyes passionately studying him.

    ‘I love you more William.'

That did him in. He was forever lost in her eyes, her smile, her lively beauty. He wanted this moment to stay with him forever. And it would.

No words needed to be said, but Will was so happy that his homecoming was more than ever expected.

‘Will you stay with me tonight? I want to wake up to your smiling eyes and sweet smile.'

Lizzy giggled and playfully hid her smile with her folded hand. She then nodded slightly and Will moved in closer to squeeze her ever so gently.

‘Now I love you even more Lizzy. Just for making me the happiest man alive, perhaps even in the whole history of man.'

Lizzy laughed out loud making Will laugh with her.

After a few more minutes of contently studying each other, Will spoke.

‘You are so beautiful. So vibrant. I love everything about you.' Then he began to kiss her on her shoulder after saying one thing he loved about her working his way up to her ear.

‘Your smile, your mind, your eyes, your sparkle, your wit, your taste-‘

Suddenly Will stopped and sat up. Lizzy slowly sat up as well wondering if something was wrong.

    ‘What is it?'

    ‘Dinner!!'

Will bolted from the room and down the stairs. Lizzy followed but at a more sedate pace. When she reached where he had gone to, she watched him pouring a hot pot of what used to be boiling water with pasta in it, into the sink.

A few curse words escaped his mouth, but Lizzy let a few giggles escape from hers. Will looked up with an apologetic grin on his handsome face.

‘So much for dinner.' He grumbled.

Lizzy couldn't help but laugh out loud. Will put the pot into the sink and went to the stove to clean up the mess.

‘You know, I hope your not hungry because you're not getting any.'

‘Oh I think I'll survive. My appetite is quite satisfied.'

Will stopped cleaning the stove and turned to her. Knowing full well what she meant, he stared at her.

‘I worked hard for this you know.'

Lizzy smiled and moved towards him.

‘Oh poor baby,' She grinned with her arms stretched out to embrace him,' it's not my fault you overcooked it. Besides, my stomach wasn't hungry. My hunger for you was.'

Will allowed her to embrace him and smiled.

‘Well...are you hungry now madam?' He asked as he held her tight.

Lizzy looked up into his eyes and beamed at him.

    ‘A little. What say you?'

Will, thinking she meant food, thought for a moment and then replied.

    ‘I could go for something.'

    Lizzy smiled slyly and nodded.

    ‘Good.'

He then kissed her on her forehead and moved towards the pantry. Lizzy however, moved towards the stairway and called for him.

    ‘Uh Will...hungry?'

Will turned around confused but when seeing Lizzy standing with the moonlight on her face and a small smile upon her lips, he tossed the loaf of bread and peanut butter on the floor and strode over to her.

Lizzy was already halfway up the steps, before Will stopped and did a double take to make sure everything in the kitchen was well taken care of.

Then he skipped every two steps to reach his beloved who was waiting for him in bed.

It was the breaking of morning when Lizzy woke up in Will's bed. The sunlight hit her face just right to wake her, but she wasn't upset. She was happy to be up and looking into the eyes of her Will.

‘How long have you been watching me?' She asked sleepily.

    Will grinned.

‘For a little while. Good Morning beautiful.' He then moved in slowly to kiss her forehead.

Lizzy loved the gesture and closed her eyes to savor the moment.

‘What time is it?' Lizzy asked after a moment while stretching her limbs out from underneath the covers.

Will craned his neck to see the time of 6.31am.

‘Hmm...I have to get going or I'll be late for work.'

Will moved closer to her and snuggled into her warm body.

‘Don't leave so soon.' He murmured.

‘But I have to. I don't own companies like you do mister. I still have bills to pay and take care of myself. Now let me go so I can get ready and get home quick enough to shower and change.'

Will didn't budge making Lizzy squirm and giggle.

    ‘Come on Will. Please?'

‘Can't you call in? Please for me? I want to spend the day with you.'

Lizzy fixed her eyes into his and looked at his silent plea.

‘Oh all right! Goodness. You win you win. Now let me have the phone. ‘

Will smiled and hugged her tight before handing her the phone. She much rather be with him anyways. Before she dialed John's number, she peered at Will.

    ‘On one condition William Darcy.'

He looked at her, curious. She continued.

‘I have to go home and let Jack out and get ready.'

Will laughed at such a request.

‘Of course my love. Of course.' He answered her and left her to her phone call as he went into the bathroom.

It was a few hours later that Lizzy and Will finally emerged for the day from Will's warm bed. After Will had called Charles to let him know that Lizzy would join them for brunch, Lizzy made haste to get home and spend a little time with Jack and get herself ready for meeting with Charles.

‘Do you have everything?' Lizzy asked before pulling out of Will's driveway.

He nodded and pressed his hand into hers as they drove off to the freeway. When they reached her place, Will offered to take Jack out while she showered and dressed.

After she was dressed and ready to go, she came from her bedroom to find Will on his knees playing with Jack.

‘Playful pup Jack is.' Will stated as he threw a colorful braided rope across the living room.

    Lizzy smiled.

‘Yeah he is. Always has been. Hyper too, but he can't help it. He has to be with me.'

Jack went quick for the rope and started swinging it back and forth while bouncing over to Will.

Another few throws and then Will sat down on the sofa with Lizzy.

‘We should probably get ready to go here in a few minutes.' Will said as he petted Jack a bit more.

Lizzy nodded and called for Jack to come to her.

After hooking him up and grabbing her jacket and purse, she put her sunglasses on and left with Will.

Charles was very happy to see his best friend and Lizzy when he met them for brunch.

‘Will! So glad you came back. How are you? Hi Lizzy. Glad you could make it.'

Will smiled and escorted Lizzy to their table.

‘Got off work I see?' Charles said with a grin to Lizzy.

    She merely blushed and smiled.

‘I hope you approve. Being that I am with you and not at home wasting away the day.'

‘It's no problem. I'm sure you needed a vacation anyways the way you've been working.'

Will glanced at Lizzy to see her look away and then change the subject.

‘Don't worry about that. Anyways, what's good here?'

Before Will could interject with a question about her work, Charles proceeded him.

‘Everything here is good. Wouldn't eat here if it wasn't. Silly Lizzy.'

They all decided on the buffet and once settled with drinks and plates full of food, they dug in. Will talked very little about his actually business in London, but did enlighten his happiness to be back and made further future plans with Charles and Lizzy.

‘What are you two doing tonight?' Charles asked before taking a bite of egg into his mouth.

Will looked up and into Lizzy's face. She had an amused look, but cleared her throat and wiped her mouth with her napkin before responding.

‘We don't have any final plans made. Were you thinking about dinner together? All four of us?'

‘Absolutely. I'm sure Jane would love to see you Darce. She's been worried about you too. Although I'm sure once she sees you two happy and content, she will be happy too. How about dinner at 7 tonight.'

‘That should work.' Will said before sipping on his juice.

‘Good. Good. Well after this I'm back to the office. Can't neglect them.' He chuckled.

Lizzy smiled and returned to her food while Will was thinking of things to do with Lizzy after brunch.

It was only twenty minutes later that the three left the café and went their own ways. Charles back to the office and Will and Lizzy walking down the street to Lizzy's Rodeo.

Holding hands and thinking of things to do, Will broke out in smile when he thought of the perfect thing.

‘Let's go back to your place and be with each other.'

Lizzy looked at him oddly and Will sort of laughed as he explained.

‘Well, I just want to spend this afternoon with you. So we could go back to your place, pop in a movie or two and just hold each other.'

Without a word, Lizzy nodded and they strolled back to her truck and went back to her place.

That was the perfect thing, in Lizzy's mind at least. When they returned, Jack was happy to see them and play with Will a bit more. The couple "discussed" which movie to watch and soon Lizzy let Will win with The Saint instead of her choice which was The Wedding Singer. However, she did get her way later after a bit of snuggling with Will later.

They even slept a bit when it got later into the afternoon. It was when Jane came home, tired and beat from her field trip with her class, to find the pair sleeping and Jack at Will's feet.

A TV movie playing and Will holding Lizzy in his arms sleeping contently, she tried not to wake them as she went to get changed and breeze through the mail. It was Will who woke first and carefully spoke as not to wake Lizzy.

    ‘Hi Jane.' He whispered.

Jane turned around from the dining room table and smiled.

‘Hi Will. Hope you had a good flight back. Seems you are having a quiet but happy time with Lizzy. Did you get here a while ago?'

‘Actually,' He started with his face almost burning from thinking about the past 24 hours, ‘ actually Lizzy and I spent the day together. We had brunch with Charles this morning and then came back here to relax and watch a few movies.'

Jane smiled and nodded. Happy for her sister and her friend, she went into the kitchen to grab a glass of water. Lizzy woke slightly from the rumble of Will's voice as her head laid on his strong chest. Will noticed the change in her breathing pattern and tried to look down to see Lizzy rub her eyes and sigh.

‘Shh...you can sleep some more.' Will stroked her hair and Lizzy closed her eyes again.

He was tired too, but didn't want to disturb his sleeping pattern for the east coast. He instead held Lizzy closer and continued to stroke her hair, brush kisses against her forehead and say ‘ I love you' into her hair.

Lizzy was awake, but enjoyed Will's caresses. She listened to Jane and him talk about London, his flight, his sister, and the news happening here with Jane and their friends.

‘Oh by the way. Not sure if Charles called you or whatnot, but we are all going out to dinner tonight around 7. Nothing fancy, but something nice to do.'

Jane's bright smile made Will smile.

‘Oh wonderful! I know that Charles has been very excited for your return. Let me call him quick to remind him that he doesn't need to pick me up.'

As Jane went to call Charles, Will took the opportunity to kiss Lizzy properly.

This made her fully awake and by the time Jane had come back, Lizzy was speechless.

‘Well hello to you Lizzy. What's wrong?'

When Jane didn't get a response, she looked to Will.

‘Don't worry about her, Jane. She's all ready to go.' He said with a laugh and winked at Lizzy.

He was right...she was ready to go...but not to dinner.

It took her a few good minutes to calm herself and it was a good thing Jane had stayed in their presence. It wasn't long after that when the three of them left to meet Charles at the restaurant. When they got there, Charles wasn't there yet, so the three of them got a table and waited. It was ten minutes after they received their drinks that Charles came to the table.

‘Sorry guys. Caroline was uh...at it again. Apparently I shouldn't of told her exactly who I was with tonight.'

Lizzy sat straighter in her seat and glanced at Jane.

‘Would that be a sin Charles, in the bible of Caroline?' Lizzy asked.

    Charles only chuckled and said,

‘If anyone worshiped that bible and I know for a fact, that only the maker of it does. So no, it's no sin at all. In fact, it's a blessing.' He said and then rubbed the back of Jane's shoulders.

‘A blessing I am happy to accept at any time and share with such wonderful people.' He ended and ordered his drink.

Dinner was a happy affair. Tons of laughs, old stories from the sisters and best friends, and future plans made for the summer to come were passed around the table of four.

To Will, he couldn't remember a better time in his life than being with the people who were at this table.

Excepting his family, Will felt a deep bond with Lizzy and Jane, a bond that was deep, accepting, and energetic. Jane was wonderful to Charles and made his best friend so happy. He knew that he wanted to get to know her more, to understand her and show Lizzy that his affection was not only for her, but for her family. He wanted to show that he cared and was interested in who she was and who was her support.

She had taken a great interest in his sister. Georgie really liked Lizzy. Lizzy returned the affection and looked forward to the day they would finally meet. They both looked forward to it, even more so was Will.

He beamed at her as they were winding down from dinner and chatting about the up coming weekend. As Will watched them talking about going to a farmer's market early Saturday morning, he thought about doing this always with them. Spending life with Lizzy and spending time with Charles and Jane, it seemed so...right.

He knew that was never the feeling with Caroline. It was always the best parties, the best dinners, the best of everything.

Lizzy cut the best out of the material things and made Will see the best in her. So what that they didn't have the perfect start to a relationship, that they didn't go out to dinner at the most posh places, so what that Lizzy wasn't a model perfect girlfriend. She took the time to find out who Will was, is, and wants to be. She took the time to listen, to show her feelings, and make him laugh. She made him feel alive. Wasn't that what love was about? Wasn't that what he always wanted?

It was something he didn't need to think twice about...he already knew. The love that grew from when he met her, was growing stronger with every beat of his heart. Time was no limit with her around...it was only a reminder of how precious she was to him and his life.

‘Will? Are you ready to go?'

He shook his head and fixed his eyes on Lizzy. She smiled oddly while trying to figure him out. He took his hand that was draped on the back of her chair and stroked her hair.

    ‘I'm ready Lizzy.'

Charles and Jane left to go to Charles house and Lizzy went to take Will home.

‘I can't stay too long, since I do have work tomorrow. But I think-‘

Will couldn't wait for her to finish. Instead he took her hand and kissed it.

‘Don't worry love. I won't let you stay tonight...unless you want to. And you know...I want you to.'

    ‘hmm..' Lizzy responded.

Will smiled and when they reached his house, he urged her inside.

Will lead Lizzy to the library where he planned on just holding her until she had to leave. It was while they were snuggled together, watching the warm fire Will had started, that Lizzy hummed a soft tune to herself and Will inquired to the melody.

‘Oh, it's just a song that's been in my head.'

    ‘May I hear it?'

Lizzy chuckled quietly and lifted her head to look into his eyes.

‘Careful, you might get lost.' Will whispered while stroking her hand.

‘How could I be lost with you here to guide me.' She answered with her eyebrow arched.

Will's heart literally skipped a few beats and he found himself losing all self control while gazing into her eyes.

    ‘Lizzy...' he moaned softly.

Both could feel the attraction between them and the wanted physical connection., however Will stopped her kisses and looked again into those beautiful eyes.

‘Can I just say that...ever since I came home...I've been so happy with you here, near me. It's been amazing and as much as I really don't want to let you go...even though it's only for a little while, that I will always been enchanted by you, always thinking about you and even more importantly, loving you...more every moment, whether your right here next to me, in the other room, or across the world. It will never stop.' He said passionately, tenderly, firm.

Lizzy really didn't know what to say. She felt every word, she felt her heart beat faster as he spoke, she listened to every word, she watched him say those beautiful words, but to say something? How could she? What would ever match that?

No. Instead, Lizzy continued what Will stopped her from doing before he said anything.

Will was slightly surprised, but never let down. Instead he returned her kiss and then held her tightly as though to never let go.

‘Will...I think I have to get going.' Lizzy said after a while of just being together and showering kisses and I love you's to each other.

Will looked at his watch and nodded. It was late and he didn't want her getting hurt or too tired on the way home.

He slowly helped her get ready and escorted her out to her truck. As she got in and after she said goodbye in so little words but so many kisses and hugs, she turned the key to her truck to start it and there it was.

Nothing. Nothing happened. No start, no noise. Lizzy was confused.

She tried again and it didn't turnover.

Giving Will a look of ‘uh yeah...what's going on?', Lizzy pulled the hood and jumped out.

‘My battery's not dead...I can turn the lights on. I just...what...what's going on?' she asked as she flipped her hand through her hair.

‘Let me see.' Will said and moved towards the engine.

‘Try turning the key.' Lizzy asked and Will went into the truck and tried to start it.

‘Grr!' Lizzy said as she peered in closer.

    ‘What is it?' Will asked.

‘There's no click! Hmm...ugh! I'm not happy with this.' She was getting frustrated, but laughed at the situation.

‘Do you want me to drive you home?'

Lizzy turned around to see the closed garage door and shook her head.

‘How can you when I'm parked in front of your garage? I guess I can call Jane.'

Before Will could object, Lizzy whipped out her phone.

She clicked off after she didn't get Jane.

Will lightly put his hand and her shoulder and asked what happened.

    ‘She didn't answer.'

‘Maybe this is a sign that you belong here with me?' Will asked while wagging his eyebrows slightly.

    Lizzy smirked.

‘I don't think that's completely accurate, however tempting it is. No, I have to get home. Jack is by himself and I have to go to work.'

‘Would you like me to call you a car? I can do that at least.'

After a few minutes of thinking it over she nodded.

‘Are you sure it's okay to leave my car here? I mean, don't you need to get to work in the morning?'

    Will laughed.

‘I'm sorry sweetie. I don't mean to laugh but it's just that I own the companies...I can take time off. I mean I have plenty to catch up on, but you mean more to me than that. I want to make sure you're taken care of. So let me call a car and I'll escort you home.'

Lizzy had a wicked grin on her face when she thought immediately of Jane being gone.

‘Would you like to stay too?'

Will stopped from walking to the house and turned around. Looking at Lizzy who held her wicked grin on her face and yet looked so innocent, he couldn't help but melt inside.

He moved closer to her and whispered in her ear.

    ‘I thought you'd never ask.'

    Chapter 24

Lizzy was frustrated, again. Only this time it was because she couldn't stop looking at Will. His face was too beautiful and she didn't want him catching her looking at him should he wake up.

He came home with her and spent the night. A beautiful night with her. She was too happy for words, except tried hard to keep gleeful sounds coming from her mouth at thinking of last night in detail. It was so wonderful. He treated her so right and gave into her. He was gentle, kind, sweet, and romantic. She remembered how they had entered the apartment. It was silly really but powerful enough afterwards to make up for it.

Lizzy couldn't get her key to work and was becoming frustrated. Will was behind her and saw her shoulders shake, thinking that she was crying when really she was laughing. Laughing because she all she wanted was to get inside and have Will. But she couldn't get inside! It was funny how frustrating it was yet simply silly.

Will nudged her away as he realized that he was either going to have her there or inside, and much preferred inside. He wasn't laughing until he saw her laugh. Then she noticed she put the wrong key into the lock and this made up for a roar of laughter from both of them. Jack barked when he heard them laughing on the other side of the door, and Lizzy quickly made the key turn (with the right one of course) and they stumbled in, mouths stopping the laughter with hungry passion.

She tore her eyes away when she felt Jack paw at her and disturb her steamy thoughts. She smiled and nodded.

    ‘I know. He is handsome.'

Jack almost howled at being misread by his tail wagging. He had to go out!

Lizzy slowly and without waking up her prince, left her warm bed, dressed and went to the front door with Jack leashed to let him out.

Meanwhile, Will was up. He knew Lizzy was watching him, but didn't want to break her reverie. Instead he allowed himself to be watched as he dreamed of the sweetness of her taste and of her silky skin upon his own.

He slowly opened his eyes and looked around the room. It was bright from the sunshine pouring in. He grinned and looked around the room. Photos hung on the wall of Lizzy with her family, Jane, her friends, Jack. She was so happy in all of them. Will felt a twinge of sadness but shook his head. He was happy now. He would soon have photos up of them in his place and hers. He smiled at the thought.

This is how Lizzy found him.

‘Hey you...I didn't wake you when I left did I?'

Will shook his head and reached for her hand. She fell next to him and grinned as her hair swept towards her face.

Will brushed some of the hair away from her face and then let his hand stay, softly caressing her cheek.

    ‘Lizzy...I love you.'

She blushed and nodded. Leaning in, she lightly kissed him.

‘The sun is shining for us.' She said. ‘Let's make this day the best for us. Even though I have to work, we can see each other tonight.'

‘Everyday with you is the best Lizzy, even if for a little while I spend time with you, you must know that.'

She smiled, ‘ I do now.' And kissed him.

‘Seems your transmission is out.' A gruff man told Lizzy as she stood in the garage waiting for the diagnosis.

She had her hands on her hips and scowled.

‘Well how much to fix it?' she asked looking at her truck with sorrow.

‘Hmm...bout...$5400.' He said wiping his hands on a dirty red rag.

‘What?! Hmm...sounds about right I guess.' She paused for a moment, longingly looking at her truck. She then felt Will's presence and glanced up at him with a small smile on her lips.

‘I'll have to think about it. Can I have a moment?' Lizzy asked and the mechanic, Joey, left her.

Will had her truck towed to her mechanic that weekend, to a small shop in her parents' town that had worked on her truck previously. It was in a small garage off from the main one and she stood in there, the only vehicle in there, looking at her poor truck.

‘Oh baby...why did you have to do this? How am I going to fix you? You silly girl.' Lizzy stage whispered to the Rodeo that looked beautiful outside but was pretty much dead inside.

Will was amused at the relationship Lizzy seemed to make for her truck. He never had that type of connection with any of his cars. He merely drove them for the purpose of their being in his possession. But this was Lizzy. She was vivacious and free, she had life in her, she found connections with things that he never thought of before. He was so amused by her talking to a truck that he was smiling, watching her affection for it.

‘You must think me silly for talking to her, but I love this truck. She has been with me for so many years and it's just a huge part of me. I take care of her as much as I can, but it seems that I didn't catch her transmission going out, although I'm not sure why...usually you can tell.'

‘You don't need to explain sweetie. I understand.'

She walked around it a couple times, tears almost falling, she then got into the driver's side and sat there. She let her head fall back and then turned on the engine to play a cd that was already in there. Breaking Benjamin started to play the song ‘ Until the End'.

She seemed to be thinking. Will didn't want to interrupt.

‘Why give up? Why give in?

    It's not enough.

    It never is.

So I will go on until the end.'

To most people they would think this was weird, but to her...she was thinking. Whenever she needed to think, she would get in her truck and drive...but being that she couldn't do that today, she merely sat there in contemplation. Thinking of what to do. Sell her? Fix her? What?

Her head popped up and then she turned off the truck and got out. Her face was a bit brighter than when she heard Joey tell her what was wrong.

‘Joey?!' She yelled out into the garage. A few moments later Joey sauntered in.

    ‘Yeah Lizzy?'

‘Can I make payments for her to get fixed? I don't want to sell her just yet because of something I could fix.' She said looking back at her truck.

‘It's a bit extreme for wanting to keep it. I mean...you could get a new one your know.'

‘I want her.' Lizzy simply stated.

‘Mmm...yeah I think I can do that. How much a month?'

    Lizzy paused.

    ‘How about...oh...say...$350?'

‘$450. That way it's done in a year.'

‘How about all of it up front?' Will finally interjected.

Lizzy and Joey turned to him. Joey more slowly.

‘I can't ask that of you.' Lizzy started.

‘You're not asking. I'm offering.' Will stated.

She didn't move or say anything for a couple minutes. She just darted her eyes back and forth.

‘Are you sure? I mean...I don't want to be taking your money. It's going to take me a long while to pay you back.'

Will put his hand up and shook his head.

‘Joey could we have a minute please.' Will asked and Joey turned again to leave.

Will then pulled Lizzy close and looked at her seriously.

‘Elizabeth, I don't see you as a short-term girlfriend. I see you as a life partner. Now whether that's something that scares you or not (Lizzy shook her head) good. Then I don't see why I can't help you out. I love you and want you to be happy. If your truck makes you happy, then I want it fixed. No matter what the price. It means a lot to you. That there then means a lot to me. Understand?'

Lizzy nodded slowly. Did he just say life partner? Does that mean marriage? Lizzy thought but shook her head.

‘I don't...I'm only saying that I don't want you paying for everything for me because I can pay for things myself, just not...as...quickly as you...can.' She quieted as she ended.

Will laughed and held her a bit back to look into her face, which she refused for him to see by turning to the side. His hands keeping her at semi arms length, he lightly shook her to look at him.

‘Let me please take care of you my love. Please? I want to.'

Lizzy couldn't look up at him but nodded slowly.

‘Fine.' She said resolutely with a sigh.

‘Joey?' Will called out and when he came Will told him to make the bill out in full and he would pay.

He then looked down at Lizzy who was still looking out from afar with a few tears down her cheek.

‘What's wrong?' Will asked slightly alarmed.

‘Nothing...I just...thank you Will. This means a lot to me.'

He chuckled, hugged her and then led her to her truck to get her things and go with him.

With Lizzy's truck in the shop for a few weeks, Will persisted that she use one of his cars until hers was done. In fact, since she loved trucks so much, he insisted she use his Range Rover.

With that agreed upon and a giddy Lizzy happy to accept the ride but ever thankful, she and Will decided to spend the day together with Jane and Charles and then dinner with themselves.

It was then planned after the four of them met up, that they would spend time looking at the historic sights around Virginia. They first started at Gunston Hall and then they went to Stratford Hall. Lizzy loved the grounds and went walking around with Will taking all sorts of pictures with him. Jane and Charles too joined in the fun after they had all taken a tour of the houses.

It was soon dark and they left each other to go their own ways, Charles and Jane were going out to eat and Lizzy was making dinner for Will at the girls' place.

It was overall a very enjoying day. However, Will received a call during dinner from Charles.

    ‘Uh what's up Charles?'

‘Will I need to see you tomorrow morning. I just had the most brilliant idea pop into my head and I need your help.'

‘Okay...sure. I'll be over at your place around 9.'

‘Good! Oh here comes Jane. See you tomorrow.' And Charles clicked off.

    Will shook his head.

‘What did he want?' Lizzy asked as she bit into her steak.

‘Umm...he has an idea he wants to talk to me about.'

‘Oh...okay.' Lizzy shrugged and continued eating.

After dinner, the two of them sat on the couch snuggling with soft music playing and Jack laying next to them.

It was a quiet evening, one that had both of them trying hard not to fall asleep on.

Will was tenderly rubbing Lizzy's back and humming a bit to the tunes coming from the speakers.

‘Thank you again for today Will.' Lizzy mumbled from his chest.

He smiled and gave her a squeeze.

    ‘Always my love. Always.'

They were silent for a few minutes until Lizzy lifted her head and looked at him straight in the eye.

    ‘What?' he asked.

‘I just was thinking...do you really see me as a life partner?'

    ‘Yes.' He answered without hesitation.

‘Aren't you a bit quick being that you were just engaged with Caroline?'

‘First off, that was months ago. Second, I was never in love with her as I am with you. Third, you are everything I have every wanted, even if I didn't know that's what I wanted.'

Her mouth pouted a bit and he continued.

‘I mean,' he started as he lifted her chin up to look into his eyes,' that when I met you I thought I knew what I wanted, but at that time I wasn't sure anymore anyways. I was starting to think that there was more out there for me. That Caroline wasn't the one for me at all. When I met you, I could feel again. Really feel. My heart started beating for the first time in a very very long time. When we met, I was taken back. I didn't know what to expect and tried to think it was just a fancy, but then I realized real quick that it wasn't that...I wanted to know you...all about you. I couldn't believe that we were in the same circles. What I mean by that is we should have met so much earlier than we had. I was hooked. But with me always gone on business or in England for the summers, I thought that's why I never met you until then. But of course, you were with Eliot during the times we could have met too, so we were both miserably taken. And then we met...and I was able to feel again. You are such a vibrant, brilliant woman. You have a vivacious wit about you, you are talented beyond belief, and you make me smile...all the time my beautiful gorgeous Elizabeth. I haven't even hit the tip of the iceberg when I say these reasons of why I love you.'

Lizzy blushed and settled herself a bit closer to Will.

‘When did fall in love with me?'

    He thought for a moment.

‘I can't exactly place the time or where, but I can tell you that when I knew I was in love with you was when you were singing at the pub. I felt the words of the song and the feelings from your voice. I knew then that I was in love. But I was already in the middle before I had begun to notice.'

That earned him a heartfelt kiss.

    ‘When did you know Lizzy?'

‘Hmm? When you helped me move here. Later that night, I kept thinking about you and then it hit me. I knew I was falling for you.'

‘Falling for me or falling in love with me?'

‘Well falling for you. As to when I knew it was falling into love? It was...well...it was when you were in the hospital. I knew that if the worst would happen, I wouldn't know what to do. And I knew at that moment while I saw you asleep, that I was in love with you, utterly and completely.'

The air was bursting with love and emotion for each other. It wasn't the type they wanted to share physically so much as it was the type they wanted to embrace with their hearts and each other.

‘Oh Lizzy. How could we not be right for each other? How could we not be so in love that we would want to spend the rest of lives with each other.' Will said.

Lizzy didn't answer. She was getting lost in his eyes again. His voice was thick with emotion as well and instead of kissing her, he gazed at her never moving his eyes from hers.

They stayed like this for a while until Lizzy noticed the time and moved from Will to go to bed.

‘I should probably go huh?' Will asked sheepishly.

‘Hmm...no not unless you want to. You can stay if you like, but I'm pretty tired. We had an eventful day, albeit a really good one.'

Will smiled, but reluctantly decided to leave.

‘I'd stay but I don't have a change of clothes and I have to leave early tomorrow to meet up with Charles. I'm sure Jane would be coming home tonight anyways, since Charles has a plan that he wants to talk over with me.'

Before she could answer back the negative, Jane walked through the front door.

    ‘Hi guys. Nice night?'

‘Jane! I thought you were staying at Charles's house?' Lizzy asked amazed that her sister was home.

‘No, I told him that I wanted to have breakfast with you tomorrow and he said he had some things to take care of anyways. I'll see him tomorrow though I'm sure. I hope I wasn't intruding.'

Both Will and Lizzy blushed but shook their heads.

‘No I was just leaving in fact. Have a good night Jane. Lizzy...'

‘I'll walk you out. Come on Jack!' She called and the tired puppy came to her side.

The three of them walked out slowly, although Jack was eager to do his thing, to Will's car.

‘So can I see you tomorrow?' Will asked shyly.

Lizzy almost laughed but instead nodded her head with a bright smile.

‘Okay then...I'll see you tomorrow after I talk with Charles.'

    ‘Until tomorrow Will.'

He didn't move though. He stood in his place until Lizzy, with wide eyes, asked him what was wrong.

‘Nothing, but I won't leave until you go back inside. I don't want you out here by yourself.'

Lizzy, a bit frustrated at that but nonetheless happy with his protect nature, pursed her lips together and pouted.

‘I just want to make sure you get inside safely. That's all.' He kissed her on the cheek and then her forehead and lastly on her pouting lips.

Lizzy reluctantly left his side, but not after another good night kiss, and turned to walk away. Still pouting she turned every couple steps to look back at Will who was still standing by his car waiting for her to go inside.

‘I mean it now Lizzy, go on. Go on...Elizabeth...go.' He said and smirked whenever she wasn't turning to look at him.

‘I'll see you tomorrow William Darcy!' She called out to him with a bit of a sour taste albeit a playful one.

As she walked inside, all she heard back was Will laughing.

Charles was pacing the kitchen waiting impatiently for Will to arrive. He thanked his lucky stars that Caroline was at their sister's house and not here. He needed the break! He badly wanted Jane to stay, but this was too important. This would decide the fate of him and his beautiful angel.

Before he could go on thinking about Jane's sweet smile and tender kisses, Will was knocking on the door.

Charles did all but leap to the door to let him in. Finding Will munching on a donut and raising a bag with more inside, Charles shooed him in.

‘How can you eat at a time like this?' Charles cried out.

Will walked with Charles into the kitchen and simply stated,

‘Well, it is nine in the morning, and they are donuts. I just thought that breakfast sounded rather tempting right about now. By the way...,' he said as he peered into the rooms on the way into the kitchen carefully, ‘is umm...is she here?'

    Charles wasn't amused.

    ‘No she's at Louisa's.'

‘What's got you in a mood?' Will asked as he poured himself a glass of milk.

‘Will! I have a brilliant plan but I need your help.'

‘You said that last night. Why don't you tell me what it is?' Will said as he bit into his donut again.

Charles tapped his fingers on the countertop and then blurted it out.

    ‘IwanttoaskJanetomarryme.'

    Will shook his head.

‘Either the milk is too cold or you just didn't speak clearly enough. I only caught I and Jane then me.'

Charles let out a deep sigh.

‘I want to ask Jane to marry me. I've thought about it and have wanted to do it, I even was close to asking at one point but it just wasn't...special enough. Now I think I have a really good idea, but I need you to support me.'

‘Well it's about time you ask! But why didn't you tell me sooner?'

    ‘I just...I thought I could do it on my own. I mean I know I can, but I wanted to---oh I don't know.'

‘So what's this plan of yours?'

‘I was thinking of taking her to Williamsburg and spending the weekend with her and then taking her to a romantic dinner somewhere and popping the question.'

Will mulled it over in his head and then slowly nodded.

‘That is simply perfect Charles. I think she'd love it.'

    ‘Then you'll help me?'

    Will laughed.

‘Of course! Let's go make the arrangements.'

It was around one that Will had called Lizzy to take her out to eat. Jane and Lizzy had a nice quiet morning at home. First Lizzy went for her run, then Jane and her went to church, coming home with bagels for breakfast and then chatting about the last few days until Will called.

An hour after he did, Lizzy opened the door finding Charles instead of Will waiting at the door.

    ‘Hi Lizzy. Is Jane home?'

    ‘Yeah...come on in.'

He sat himself on the couch and Lizzy went to get Jane.

    ‘Oh hi honey.'

‘Hi darling. I umm...I have a surprise for you. I'd like to know if you could take next Friday off so I can take you to Williamsburg for the weekend. I uh...I wanted to have a romantic weekend with you.'

Lizzy caught the drift and headed for her room.

A few minutes later, Jane popped her head in and let Lizzy know that they would be spending the day here at the apartment. Lizzy then went to join them and was only with them for a few minutes, when Will arrived.

    ‘Hiya! Come on in sweetie.'

Will kissed Lizzy hello and then joined everyone in the living room.

‘I was going to take Lizzy to lunch. Did you two want to join us?'

Jane nodded and tugged on Charles to join them into lunch.

‘We're coming back here though afterwards, we just wanted to spend a quiet day at home.'

    Will looked puzzled.

‘Caroline's coming back today from Louisa's and I don't want to be there. Jane and I have been in her company enough. She's driving me nuts!'

‘Maybe you should tell her to leave already.' Lizzy put in. Receiving a acknowledging glance from Charles, he nodded and stated.

‘I'll talk to her tonight. I don't think I can take much more.'

‘What has she done now?' Will asked before he could stop his mouth.

‘She is always with us and sometimes she won't stop asking about you and talking about you. I love you like a brother Will, but come on now. I don't need to hear all about you. Especially from her.' Charles spat.

    ‘Sorry...I just...she's getting to me.'

‘Then why don't you guys stay here and when Will and I want to be alone, we can just go to his place.'

Charles looked happy for a moment, but longingly at Jane.

‘That sounds wonderful. Although it's a bit far from here, it's worth the trip.' Will stated while almost growling to Lizzy at the end of it.

‘Okay let's go.' Lizzy said with a sigh and a grin for Will.

They were all stuffed. None of them wanted to move in fear of exploding.

‘I don't think I'll ever eat again.' Lizzy said while rubbing her stomach.

‘I don't think you could never not eat Lizzy.' Jane said sweetly.

‘Ooohhh man...that was just too good.' She replied to her sister, ‘ I'm sure your right Jane. I love food too much.'

‘Well I think we should get going. Maybe a nice walk to help us?' Will inquired.

    All three shook their heads.

‘I'm going for a nap.' Charles said as he put his jacket on. Jane and Lizzy moved to get up and nodded with him to agree.

‘Well fine. Be that way then.' Will said with a pout.

‘Don't worry...we can nap together back at the apartment.' Lizzy whispered to him.

It wasn't long before they all returned and Jane and Charles took to the couch and Lizzy and Will took to her bed. All four of them were asleep within minutes.

The following week passed fairly well. Will didn't tell Lizzy about Charles's plan since he wanted her to hear it from Jane.

Instead, Will, on Tuesday night, had dinner with Lizzy and discussed the idea of flying into England in a couple of weeks to visit Pemberley with Robert and Marianne.

‘Well just let me know when you want to leave and how long we're staying so I can request the time off.' Lizzy said as she stirred her tea.

‘Well I was thinking we could leave on a Thursday and then come back a week after that. Does that sound okay?'

Lizzy nodded her head and sipped her tea.

‘I can't believe the wedding is creepy up! I'm so excited for it.'

Will's hand engulfed Lizzy's as he replied,

‘I know. However, I can't wait to show you Pemberley. I think you'd love it.'

Indeed, from what Lizzy heard from both Georgie and Will she was sure to love it.

Thursday night came and suddenly something dawned on Lizzy as she helped Jane pack.

‘Hey, do you think that maybe...Charles will propose to you? I mean...you guys haven't really had a romantic getaway weekend like this yet.'

‘Hmm...I don't think so Lizzy. I mean...I want to marry him I really do, but I think he's just planning a nice retreat so to speak. But I'm excited to go.' Then it hit Jane that maybe he might ask and before she put another skirt into the suitcase she turned to Lizzy with a huge smile on her face.

‘Oh what if he does! Oh Lizzy...I would be the happiest woman in the world. No one could take that away from me! Oh Lizzy I hope he does.' She hugged her sister and pulled away to see Lizzy look happily at her.

‘Oh Jane I hope so too. You deserve him so much and he you. You two are perfect for each other. I'll pray that he does this weekend.'

‘If he does, you will obviously be my maid of honor. Oh oh...oh Lizzy.' She said dreamily.

Lizzy felt a twinge of jealousy but not enough to spiral into anything serious. She was happy for her. She was happy for herself. She didn't want marriage right now...did she? She shook her head. She was here for Jane. Not herself. This was Jane's weekend.

‘Come on. Let's get you all packed and then have some dinner. I'm sure Charles will be calling you later tonight.'

Jane nodded and they finished packing Jane's things and then went to fix dinner.

Jane left after Lizzy had left for work. With a tight hug and a kiss on the cheek, Lizzy hoped for the best and wished for more for Jane and went to work. It wasn't long before Jane had left with Charles to go to Williamsburg, hand in hand, in love, and happy.

Lizzy was home by herself Friday night, hanging out with Jack and watching a movie on TV. Will had to work late to catch up and wasn't going to be seeing her until the next day.

Lizzy then decided that nice quiet night at home would suffice. She worked on her last term paper for school, which she neglected since Will came back and she made herself dinner consisting of macaroni and cheese along with a salad.

She had called Georgie too. Just to catch up with her and see how her classes were going. They had talked for a while about school, then about their social lives, and then moved into Will. They always seemed to talk about him. Georgie missed her brother and was happy to be talking to Lizzy about him and to get to know her even more. But whenever they talked it was as though they were friends from way back.

It was pretty late when Lizzy started watching the movie and clicked off from Georgie. She was close to being asleep, when she heard her front door knock.

‘What?' she said to herself and went to answer.

She went to the door and answered it to find Charlotte.

‘Charlotte! What a surprise. What brings you here?'

‘Umm well I hope it's a pleasant one. I just wanted to stop by, see how you were, and ummm...tell you that I'm getting married.'

Lizzy was silent. Somehow she knew it was going to happen and she was shocked but not as much as when she first heard they were together.

‘I know we haven't talked since I told you about our date, but he proposed to me the other night and well...I just wanted to have your blessing and see if you would come to the justice of peace tomorrow, for our wedding.'

Lizzy paused while taking a sharp breath and letting it out before responding.

‘Charlottte I...,' she looked at her friend and couldn't help but smile,' if he's truly going to make you happy then I'm happy for you. Yes, I will come.'

Charlotte let out a long sigh and then smiled while hugging Lizzy.

‘Thank you so much! I thought you wouldn't be happy for me but then I thought I was silly for thinking so.'

    Lizzy smiled.

‘I just think that even though you are not a romantic like you said, that you could marry for your happiness. I only want that.'

    ‘I am quite content Lizzy.'

The visit didn't last very long since Charlotte had to go home and pack for their honeymoon to Hawaii. Lizzy wasn't very happy about the match but she was happy for Charlotte's sake.

Lizzy moved from the door to call Will, but was interrupted by another knock at the door.

Lizzy's arms swung from the motion of getting the phone, to answering the door. She kept her head down since she was trying to push Jack out of the way and called out.

‘Charlotte I promised you---oh hello there. How are you?'

‘Hi Lizzy. May I come in?'

Lizzy opened the door to Nick.

‘What are you doing here Nick? I haven't seen you in ages!' She moved to give him a hug and after a tight embrace, Lizzy offered him to sit in the living room.

‘I know. With work and home, I just can't seem to get out to see my family. I'm sorry. Is Jane home?'

‘Uh no actually she's in Williamsburg with her boyfriend Charles.'

‘Ahh Charles. Nice guy is he?'

‘The best! But what brings you here? Why didn't you call?'

‘Oh well, can't I see my little sister? I came from mom and dad's. They said you don't live there anymore and were at Jane's now. I saw everyone else.'

‘Yeah I moved here a couple months ago.'

‘Right. Well, since I have you here, I wanted to let you know that in regards to your case against Eliot, we have new resources. A lawyer, Frank Brandson, has entered the picture and has good news. He talked with Janice's lawyer and since Eliot had no will to speak of, the debt that was in both of your names would of fallen to you, however, you're share of the debt was actual less than we had thought. It really is a sum of $4400.00 not $15000.00. This is good news, however, this is what your liable for.'

Lizzy sank into her chair and let out a sigh at the number her brother told her. Her head in her hands now and Jack wagging his tail to get her attention, Lizzy patted his head and then looked up.

‘That's not too bad. Are there payment arrangements I can make?'

Nick gave a tight smile and then rubbed his hands together.

‘That's not all. Eliot seemed to of had a life insurance policy with you as the primary beneficiary. It was for $400,000.00. Now you get that amount Lizzy. However, the deduction of debt will come out of it and then you're all in the clear.'

By the time he ended his statement, he was smiling and beamed when he saw Lizzy's face light up.

‘Are you serious?? He left me that? Are you sure?'

‘Brandson checked it out and told me it was true. Janice has nothing on you to sue you for. Albeit she and Lena are a bit upset, but legally they can't do anything about it.'

Lizzy was shocked. She didn't move. Before Nick could answer, someone was knocking at the door and when Lizzy didn't budge, Nick went to answer.

‘Uh hello, is Lizzy here?' Will asked with a complex look on his face.

‘Uh yeah yeah, she's just in there.' Nick pointed to the living room and Will went in.

Both of them found Lizzy in tears, sobbing into Jack who was in her arms.

‘Lizzy! What's the matter? What happened to her?' Will spat to Nick, not knowing who he was or anything, he was quite concerned.

‘Lizzy shhh, come now. It's all over...shhh don't cry.' Nick swooped her up into his arms.

Lizzy let it out, she was feeling so much but within moments she realized that she was not in Will's arms and when she looked up to see Will standing with a scowl on his face, she immediately turned to his open embrace.

‘Uh...I'm Nick. Nick Bennet. Her brother.' He answered the question lingering in the air to Will.

Will nodded and held Lizzy close.

‘Nice to meet you Nick. I just came from work and decided to stop by, I'm sorry where are my manners, I'm Will Darcy, Lizzy's boyfriend.'

Nick shook Will's free hand and then raced his other hand through his hair.

He felt horrible for his sister, yet this news was really good.

Probably shouldn't of come from me. He thought.

‘Well maybe I should go.' He started.

Lizzy turned around with a small smile on her face.

‘No no...Nick please...stay. You too Will. I haven't seen you in so long. Please stay.'

They both agreed and when Lizzy was calm, she explained why Nick had come to see her to Will.

Will already heard about this from Brandson earlier that day. He also heard that he wasn't supposed to know.

Will hugged Lizzy when he heard the good news, again, and decided that a drink was in order. He then ordered that no more talk about Eliot was ever to come up.

Before Lizzy agreed, she asked Nick about Katy and the child support.

‘I don't know what will happen with that one, but I know that you aren't at all involved. Thank heavens! Good luck to Iris and Luther, but they should be just fine.'

Lizzy offered her apologies out loud to them and then shrugged the rest off to have a drink.

Nick and Will got along pretty well after the commotion Will walked in on. They talked about college, sports, work in general, Lizzy and her family, Lizzy's childhood, fond memories the two had when in Minnesota visiting their Grandpa when they were all children. All sorts of subjects came up.

It was nearly one in the morning when Lizzy started to feel the effects of the wine they were drinking and fell asleep.

Nick and Will hadn't noticed for a while, until they too were yawning a bit.

‘You think she'd mind---oh! she's asleep. You think she'd mind if I stayed here for the rest of the night? I live in Frederick Maryland so it's quite a ways and I'm beat.'

Will looked around at the couch Lizzy and Will were inhabiting.

‘Yeah it shouldn't be a problem. I'm just going to take her to bed. She's pretty knocked out. I'll see you in the morning Nick?'

    ‘Yeah. I'll be here.'

With that Will carried Lizzy into her bedroom and shut the door.

Saturday morning crept too soon, but Lizzy was faraway dreaming of better things than waking up.

She didn't want Will to leave just yet...she liked being in his arms, holding her while they were in the park dreaming of each other...

All too soon, Lizzy awoke to a tight squeeze.

What? She thought. Lazily she looked down around her waist to find Will's arm holding onto her tightly.

She smiled at the knowledge that she may have dreamed about him holding her, but it was true, Will was holding onto her...tight!

‘mmmm...morning love. Sleep well?' Will mumbled into his pillow.

‘Yes...but I'm still tired. Thank you for coming last night. I missed you.'

Will turned over to look at her and smiled, his attention more in tune.

‘Yes well, I wrapped things up at work decided to come here instead of going home. I missed you all day and longed to see you.'

‘Did my brother go home last night?'

    Will rubbed his eyes.

‘No he didn't. He asked if he could stay the night on the couch. I told him sure. I didn't think you'd care.'

    ‘hmm...'

    ‘Something the matter Lizzy?'

Lizzy looked up from staring at his white t shirt.

‘Uh no...I just. I don't see my brother that much anymore and although I love him dearly, it's just sort of hard what with him living so far away. You know he's married and has two kids. I adore Rachel, his wife, and Brian and Megan. They are adorable. But it's just hard to see him like he used to be. He works all the time! My dad and uncle are the only ones who see him anymore.'

Will touched her arm lightly and gently let it glide down and up her arm.

‘I'm sorry love. I know he loves you though.'

‘Yes...I know that too. But! I should probably see if he needs anything. Let's get dressed and have breakfast with him.'

Lizzy got up and ready and soon was out in the kitchen finding Nick all ready dressed and with a cup of coffee and some dry toast.

    ‘Morning sis. Is Will coming?'

‘What? Oh yeah, he'll be right along.'

    Nick only nodded.

‘Uh...thanks for letting me sleep on your couch last night. I didn't want to have to drive home so late.'

Lizzy waved her hand at him.

‘It's no trouble. You're my brother, I love you, and I want you safe. So how are Rachel and the children?'

Nick lit up and while he responded, Will walked in.

‘The kids are great. Megan is having a ball in first grade and Brian is talking up a storm. You should come up and see them. They miss their aunt.'

Lizzy smiled and gave Will a peck on the cheek while he poured himself a cup of coffee and started to make breakfast for the three of them.

‘Well I'll be sure to come up this summer. I have to finish school here in a few weeks and then I'm going to England to see Will's place. Marianne and Robert are getting married there you know.'

‘I heard. But how is everyone going to get out there?'

‘I'm flying them out.' Will said flatly while he prepped some eggs.

Nick mouthed an O and sipped his coffee.

‘It's his wedding gift to them. It's a long story.' Lizzy said as she waited for breakfast.

‘Well I wish them the best. I know that Marianne must be excited.'

    Lizzy only nodded.

‘Oh Will! Charlotte is getting married. Oh Nick you can't guess to who. He's simply absurd.'

    Will rolled his eyes.

‘When is she getting married Lizzy?' Will asked.

    ‘Today.' She deadpanned.

Will turned from the stove and looked at Lizzy straight.

‘Really?' His brows up in the air and then turned around to watch the eggs.

    ‘To who?' Nick asked.

‘None other than mom's boss. Dr. Collins.'

Nick almost spat his coffee out.

‘Him??!! Why?' he asked almost disgusted.

    Lizzy shrugged.

‘Seems he makes her happy and content. Don't ask me anymore. But I promised her I would make the wedding.'

    ‘Where is it?' Will asked.

‘Justice of the Peace. It's at two. Will you come with me?'

Will scowled but didn't let her see instead he only nodded.

He then flipped the eggs from the pan onto three plates and served the meal.

‘Well good luck to her. I don't know why she wants to do that, but good luck!' Nick said and stuffed a forkful of eggs into his mouth.

Nick took his leave a while after breakfast, leaving Will to go to his house to change and get ready for Charlotte's wedding and pick up Lizzy.

Lizzy reluctantly got herself ready and dressed for the wedding. She had mixed feelings for this marriage but was pressed not to say a word unless it was regarding her happiness.

Will picked her up a few hours later all dressed in a simple suit and Lizzy in her burgundy tea dress. As they were pulling into the city hall parking lot, Will tightened his grip around Lizzy's hand. He parked and turned to her before they went inside.

‘Now I know you don't agree with this marriage, but it's not your decision. Just smile and be happy for her. She's your friend and she counts on you to support her. Okay.'

    Lizzy grinned and nodded.

‘You know me too well to doubt the rest. I will be on my best behavior I promise.' She sighed before she started again but stopped.

‘Let's go inside...I don't want to think about this anymore...just to get this over with. Hopefully Charles and Jane will have more luck this weekend.'

Will turned his head sharply to Lizzy.

‘What?!' He asked, caught off guard by her response.

Lizzy blushed and pulled on Will to come with her.

‘Nothing!' She said quickly and kissed Will before he could continue and before they entered through the courthouse doors.
