An Easter Challenge - Her ramble within Rosing’s park

March 28, 2023 01:39AM
Taking P&P as it was written up to Chapter 34, and then tweaking very slightly....
What if Elizabeth continues her ramble within Rosing’s park?

Being as it is almost Easter, can I suggest a variation & throw it out for anyone who would like to take up this challenge, this writing prompt?

What if Elizabeth continues her ramble within Rosing’s park after she meets Colonel Fitzwilliam on his tour of the park, so the Colonel continues to the parsonage alone?

Or what if they meet much closer to the parsonage and they do not have so long to talk in private before they join Charlotte and Maria in the parlor?

They might have a brief conversation, just enough for Colonel Fitzwilliam to make it clear that he had no intentions to marry, but no occasion for him to mention Mr Darcy’s taking care of Bingley.

So then, what if Elizabeth did not give herself a headache and had no reason not to join the party at Rosings that evening?

If Darcy has no opportunity to visit her alone for the ill-fated proposal?

Would he still propose before he leaves Kent?

Would Elizabeth accept him?
