I do not know if it is proper to ask a writer why she or he chose a particular title. It probably is not right to ask. But ephemera means things that are used or enjoyed only for a short time. I liked the story very much, sad as it is, but I do not understand why you called it ephemera? It is okay if you prefer not to say. I think a number of stories could fit that description. Elizabeth playing chess with Darcy is a favorite piece of fanfic lore, almost up there with Darcy having big hands that engulf Elizabeth's small, delicate ones. There is a story not on this site which features that bit rather prominently. They play at Netherfield. It's on an adult site so I cannot mention the name here.
